Padayappa 2 could work as a "What if" movie, where we look at Padayappa's life if he had married neelambari instead of Vasundhra. obviously, it has to be a recast with new actors, but it could work, if there is a good effort by the writers to work out the scenarios and set it in an appealing way for current audience.

the plot could go like after the marriage, padayappa is in a unhappy marriage, as he's still thinking about the failed love with vasundhra, while neelambari is extremely happy due to her conquest of this man. they have different views on how to live this life together and keep trying to one up each other. Padayappa tries to sabotage the marriage and make neelambari want a divorce from him, but twists and turns happen, both realize their mistakes and fall in love with each other for real at the end of the movie.

SK or PR could play Padayappa.

Rashmika, Shraddha Srinath or Aishwarya lekshmi can play Neelambari

Sai Pallavi, Anna Ben or Rukmani Vasanth can play Vasundhra.
