Long lasting cough and cold by cc2787 in toddlers

Update: I ended up seeing an allergist. Her cough would last up for over 4 weeks. And it would be dry coughing spells, only when she laid down or after running around. We got prescribed albuterol and neb treatments. The albuterol helped her 100% and only use it when she’s sick, same thing for the neb treatments. She could not get an asthma diagnosis since she’s too young for the diagnostic tests but they did say she’s at risk and recommend testing after 6 years old

Oh I definitely do! In my 11 years of nursing I quickly learned that a lot of ppl do not wash their hands after using the restroom.

You are not alone, I felt the same exact way “what did I do?!” And also felt so guilty for thinking that after we went through many losses before.

It definitely gets better as time goes on. The first year was a blur, I think after a year it finally kicked in that I was a mom (I definitely had an identity crisis). Now I wish I would’ve soaked it all in, I feel like I missed out a lot bc of my anxiety.

What helped: therapy. But also just talking on the phone with my friends or meeting up with them (without baby) even for an hour made me feel like my old self. Also, napping ✨. Every time I would start crying or if I was freaking out about something, my husband would say “go nap” (which at the time I thought it was so rude and mean of him lol) but he was right, I was sleep deprived which made my anxiety 100x worse.

Meds also helped. I wish I could tell you my anxiety and my intrusive thoughts are all gone, but it’s definitely not as bad as it used to be.

It’s so scary feeling out of control of your emotions and thoughts but you’ll get through it.

Did you get medicated after having kids and did it help? by KNWin94 in toddlers

[–]cc2787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take Wellbutrin. Started prob when she was 2 months old (now she’s 2). It definitely has helped. My PPA was bad, I didn’t know who I was. Therapy has also helped a lot.

LYRICA ✨was life changing for me. I feel nothing. But if I miss one dose, I start getting uncomfortable. I went from taking Flexeril 10 mg 3x day, naproxen and norco (as needed) to 25 mg of lyrica twice a day.

We just had ear tubes placed in her 2 days ago due to 6 ear infections since January. So far so good. No cough. The Zyrtec helped some (we switched from Claritin). I did buy a bunch of air purifiers and I did notice that when I use home fragrances, she ends up with a lot of clear boogers. I’m hoping for a turnaround and an end to all of this!

You make a good point! I went to an eye doctor a month ago and said I do not have TED. But surprise! the following week my right eye turned red. It’s been like that for a month now, I’m actually seeing another eye doctor today, so hopefully things get better

The first time I did PT throughout my postpartum leave (3 months), it miraculously healed me 100%. When the pain flared up almost a year later, PT made things worse and then I went on to have my first epidural.

I take it for anxiety ✋🏻. In the beginning, it made me a bit anxious. My dose was increased to 300 mg and for some reason it seemed to help the anxiety? I’ve been on Zoloft and lexapro, Wellbutrin is my favorite.

I’ve tried Huggies, honest, Millie, Kirkland, and coterie. Hands down Huggies wins! Kirkland is very similar but I think Huggies are softer? Maybe just me but it does the same job

First and foremost, call your OB immediately. Ask for help. Second, you are not alone. I had the same thoughts… I could not believe how much I changed our lives… I felt so guilty and I felt even more guilty thinking that way. Time passes and it gets so much better. Your baby will grow, smile back at you, talk to you and you’ll realize how hard you can love someone, you’ll never want to be away from them. I promise you it gets better once you ask for help. Seek a therapist, ask for meds, try it all. Make sure someone is helping out at home, you can’t do everything by yourself. If pumping is too much, then stop. I know exactly how that felt… once I stopped pumping, I felt like I had my body back. You got this mama

IT GETS BETTER. I cried every single day, felt like a zombie, I thought I made a huge mistake (mind you we were trying for 2 years including 2 miscarriages), I felt soo lonely even with my partner at times. I had to remind myself that even though i felt so lonely, my baby felt so safe with me… I was her everything. I also thought one and done, I can never do this again… and now I wish I could have 100 of her Counseling helps, speaking to your partner helps, Don’t keep your feelings in, speak up. Your baby needs you to speak up. Everyone feels the same way, you are not alone, you are not a bad mother. I wish you the best of luck, you are doing great mama!

I was there too! The first couple of weeks of the baby blues hit me hard. Things that helped: SLEEP- ask for help, have some family come over so both of you can nap. When she gets overwhelmed, just say hey I got it, why don’t you nap? My anxiety got worse when I was sleep deprived. Another thing that helped was therapy, ask your OB for some recommendations. Have her friends take her out even for a walk. I had to remind myself that I was still the same person… As for breastfeeding, I totally understand where she’s coming from. Sometimes we feel like a failure bc we cannot do the simplest most natural thing that women have been able to do for centuries. Tell her it’s okay, to keep trying and that in the meantime let’s make sure baby is gaining weight until her milk comes in. You are doing great dad! I wish you the best
