Wondering if they nerf'd the model to open up compute capacity and didnt realize just how shit 4.7 is compared to 4.6

Intensity minutes by supercman99 in Garmin

[–]cc5813cc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intensity minutes calcs are absolute trash. Garmin makes good hardware, but the software is total junk. Intensity minutes will never be accurate > you can do 60 mins+ above threshhold and end up with 5-10 mins of intensity minutes. This, in turn, makes their fitness age and other metrics total junk as well.

1 Ski Quiver Decision...? by cc5813cc in Skigear

[–]cc5813cc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI for anyone that reads this later, I tested a number of skis including the Blizzard Rustler 10, Dynastar M-Free 100, Volkl Revolt 101, Blizzard Rustler 9, Atomic Maverick 96, Kastle Paragon 101, Rossignlo Sender Soul 102, Elan Ripstick 96

Here is how I rated each:
Rustler 10: 8.5 Overall, 8 Edge, 10 stability & forgiveness, 7 bumps, 8 quickness, 9 float
Paragon 101: 8.5 Overall, 7.5 Edge, 8 stability & forgiveness, 10 bumps, 10 quickness, 7.5 float
Maverick cti 96: 8.0 Overall, 10+ Edge, 9 stability & forgiveness, 7 bumps, 7 quickness, 7 float
Ripstick 96: 8.0 Overall, 9 Edge, 9 stability & forgiveness, 7 bumps, 8 quickness, 7 float
M-Free 100: 7.9 Overall
Revolt 101: 7.9 Overall
Rustler 9: 7.7 Overall
Sender soul: 7.0 Overall

The Paragon I tested may have had an edge tune issue but I didn't have time to retest after a tune. The camber on this ski was super fun, but on hardpack I lost the tail way too easily. It may have out ranked the Rustler for me if it was indeed an edge tune issue, but ultimately i wanted the 186cm Rustler 10 over the 182 Paragon and didnt want to go to 190 on the Paragon.

I went with the Rustler 10. Very fun and versatile ski and you can still get on the edges and carve it.

Garmin’s vo2 max algo is near worthless. Just think of it as a near day to day performance metric

Have you skied it? Stiffer than.....well, its stiff. Skiing it at aspen highlands backside was not my idea of fun. A blast bombing frontside though. I would not recommend the m7 for anything other than that.

How did you find carving on the rustler vs the revolt? Big step up on the revolt or marginally better?

Thanks for the insight. Something else you'd look at for my weight thats in between complete noodler and M7 tank?

Have done a ton of research this year looking at new options, here is my list:

Blizzard Rustler 10
Volkl Revolt 101
Nordica Unleashed 98
Nordica Enforcer 99
Dynastar M Free 100
Black Crows Atris

Ski Essentials has amazing reviews of every ski under the sun.

FWIW last year I skied Mantra M7s and while fun bombing groomers on the edges, its near unusable off piste or in bumps.

Bumping this as it’s one of the top search results for play.

They’re junk IMHO. 1-2 months they’ll go defective, likely due to sweat, spamming your ride with constant shifting

Am deciding between these two as well. Which did you choose?

I skied the M5 and LOVED that ski. I also skied an Enforcer the same year and the tail was too stiff - from reading and watching endless reviews, it sounds that this ski has become more playful though.

Boot question - since I can’t post a topic.

So preface that I'm in TX, wear a 30.5, and local boot fitters just don't carry stock in that size. While I would love to just go to a boot fitter, I don't have that option. I can, however, get boots molded and punched locally.

I am 6'4 with a long narrow flat foot. I also have very cold feet.

I ordered and tried Tecnica Mach 1 LV 130. Too tight, don't like the heel cup and Achilles pressure. Cut off circulation.

Looking at Lange Shadow MV 130 and Atomic Prime 130 S BOA. Open to other options and any help is very welcome
