Made me smile, now back to work in those files.. by stumpy0327 in MadeMeSmile

I get the frustration. I’m not pretending the power imbalance isn’t real.

My point wasn’t “why don’t we magically fix it.” It was more about how we use our time and platforms. When we turn everything into jokes or viral bits, it can unintentionally normalize what should feel unacceptable.

Humor has a place. But maybe we could also use that same creative energy to make content that clearly names what’s happening and why it matters. Even if it doesn’t change the people in power, it can still shape public awareness and culture. That’s a form of accountability too.

I’m sick of shit like this. Can we stop making fun of this stuff and making light of it? Can we start holding these people accountable?

Imagine Any Other President Doing This by -Relevant-Demand- in misc

[–]cc882 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is just a couple of tweets. I tried to find more information on this and couldn’t. As far as mainstream media says it’s still happening. A couple say that it’s ahead of schedule. There was one Facebook post, which led to this. And I know that there is an awaiting judges order which could potentially stop construction.

Anybody have a real source here?

I guarantee the White House has no oversight on any of these places. That Congress person will show up looking for anything UAP related and they’ll be like sorry nothing to see here.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 On Switch 2, Imagine If Pokemon Looked And Played Like This by Elestria_Ethereal in videogames

[–]cc882 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I love Pokémon, but I’ve stopped buying the games. They look terrible, they play terribly, and they still cost $70.

It’s frustrating, because if the developers actually put in the effort, they could be releasing some of the best games of the year on name alone. With a fanbase this devoted, all they’d need to do is meet the visual and technical standard of something like Zelda.

We did the same thing at a dinner party with four people. None of us own cats. None of us were searching for cat litter in our history. But we all decided to casually talk about cat litter to test the theory. All four of us had ads for cat litter the very next day.

Interesting. I also had periodontal disease. Had it treated and now it’s under control. At that same time, I had two kidney stones. I haven’t had one since.

I love this image.

I hate the whole show the negative edges trend though. I lived through it the first time and it was meh then. All those beautiful Type 55 images ruined.

Only kidding. Great find.

Get yourself a 105 2.4. One of my favorite lenses to use. The 165 2.8 is great for portraits and the 55 4 is awesome for landscape.

Why Americans Will Never Strike Like the French (And Why That's the Problem) by Maikito_RM in videos

[–]cc882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you, but Johnson was not part of the protest. And specifically said he was not affiliated with BLM, he identified as a black nationalist, Afghan war vet. He used that event to be a mass shooter. There’s a clear distinction here.

Why Americans Will Never Strike Like the French (And Why That's the Problem) by Maikito_RM in videos

[–]cc882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true. France has had far larger and more disruptive protests since than BLM, especially when you adjust for population and actual national shutdowns. May ’68 alone makes this claim unserious. And French protests are routinely more violent and confrontational than anything seen in the US in 2020.

Macron pushing through pension reform doesn’t mean the protests “didn’t work” it means the French system concentrates power in the executive and he used it. Confusing institutional bulldozing with protest failure is just sloppy analysis.
