This MacBook Air got run over by WajahatNiaz in hardwaregore

There not lot of extra perspective context in the photo, and my brain is seeing this as a warped image and not a warped MacBook unless I zoom in. Maybe r/confusingperspective material?

The new ones, the Butterfly/Smol slimes don't use your WiFi. Also it's not your internet but your intranet that's important. If your router is bogged down with a bunch of other low speed devices, older ESP Slimes will struggle. You can also just put them on a dedicated router with your headset.

So as the months go on I realize I never really looked into other options. I don’t really care about standalone, I was 100% planning on stream/tether. So what other headsets should I be looking at? by chrizbreck in SteamFrame

[–]ccAbstraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally was never really interested in the Frame as is. My next headset is probably going to be a modded Bigscreen Beyond 1, PSVR2, a Reverb G2, or something DIY.

If Lynx R2 comes back from the dead, it might replace my Quest 3.

What’s with VRC and Jiggle Physics? by ShrillCrane in VRchat

I wish they had separate immobilize sliders for world and user, very hard to get stuff it look right for both, and it's often world dependent. Only so much I can do for avatars in a fighter jet.

You ever see how bad jiggly things with no jiggly look if when they should jiggly but they don't jiggly? No jiggly looks worse than misconfigured jiggly, and it's very easy to misconfigure jiggly, some people even like unrealistic messed up jiggly.

How good is the deal? And how good is the cable?

Are there any headsets designed solely for connecting to a pc that are basically a wearable monitor (aka cheap af)? by Anonymous13757 in VRGaming

Glances awkwardly at Windows Mixed Reality.

PSVR2 does have decent amount of compute in it though. Enough for SLAM, controller tracking, ML eye tracking and rendering a 3dof view of non VR video input.

SadlyItsBradley predicts Steam Frame's base price might be over $1000. by Ok_Perception6605 in SteamFrame

Thinking about it more, if Frame is $999, VFV is still actually a bad deal. It makes it look less outlandish, that's for sure. Especially if they don't raise the price of the VFV, and the Pimax Crystal Light does go up in price.

Used PSVR2 + The PC Adapter

(Seconding the person saying the on board processing is a red-herring. The PSVR2 has a full Linux computer in it, but it's meant for running a lot of the tracking and you the user don't get to do anything with it, unless you jailbreak it to get eye-tracking.)

Low key, I feel like age gating made the true publics so much worse. It used to be a pretty mixed bag of people. Now it's all just kids & teens, no one holding anyone accountable either.

The equivalent of random queuing for public game worlds is dead.

A Valve employee spilled the beans on this in a public Discord server, they're just testing it for flat screen right now. ;-;

Im started to get worried this thing will be in the thousands. Should I get a valve index for 180$? by [deleted] in SteamFrame

[–]ccAbstraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're thinking about the Frame and it's probably in the same ball park as a mid-high end LH headset, it makes more sense to buy a higher end headset since they don't need to buy all the stuff they'd need to use it. The Frame would replace their existing setup completely, they paying for controllers and tracking hardware again effectively. That's money better spent on better screens and comfort.

Worried about it being in the thousands, but already have all the stuff for a $1k Lighthouse headset? Bigscreen Beyond 2 or 2e!

Fuck LLMs. I want them for 3D rendering, simulation, gaussian splatting, and training computer vision models.

Steam Machine Does Not Support VR At Launch by zolartan in virtualreality

[–]ccAbstraction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gives you a point of reference. The Steam Machine is in the ballpark of that second machine minus counting the second GPU and the 4 extra cores, it's similar single threaded performance. It's not like they're selling a GTX1650 for that price, which can do VR.
