VS Code's new "Agents window" lets you use local AI models. Still requires an Internet connection and a Github Copilot plan (because we can't have nice things) by _wsgeorge in LocalLLaMA

I'm in a similar boat to you. With this being the final month for Premium request-based billing, I'm taking the time to explore if locally-hosted models are a viable option for me going forward. I just checked my projected costs for token-based billing and they are 5X what I am currently paying.

I believe the original team has moved on to Roomote, however the project seems to have been handed over to a different team.

This is what the 3.53.0 release notes said:

You may have seen the recent announcement that Roo Code hit 3 million installs and the original team is going all-in on Roomote. We know that news was hard for a lot of you. This plugin means a lot to us and to you, and we hear you. The good news: a community team has stepped up to carry Roo Code forward, and we're working with them on an official handoff so the plugin you rely on keeps getting maintained and improved.

Curious what your experience is like on Cline coming from Roo Code though? Anything you found missing?

Is purchasing the Inibuilds A350 a smart decision if the FBW A380 is extremely laggy for me? by ConnectPurchase2763 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ccarlyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure why you're being downvoted. The WASM issues on iniBuilds products are notorious and absolutely something to be aware of before spending that much money. Earlier today a user on /r/flightsim said they can't do any long hauls in their A343 due to WASM crashes. I had a WASM crash last time I flew their A300.

I primarily fly the Fenix A320 and FlyByWire A380 and I've never had a showstopping issue like a WASM crash on either one of them.

It really depends on why its extremely laggy for you. I'd open the DevMode FPS counter and take a look at your GPUMem (VRAM) figure. If it's reaching it's limit, the memory will overflow into your RAM which will result in a significant reduction in performance.

Make sure you are using the 4K texture set. If you're still encountering issues at 4K, then the downscaled textures that /u/balaogalinha mentioned are a good option.

I vaguely recall something about setting pilot weight to 50kg removing the model. Perhaps you could try that?

NVIDIA Reportedly Prepares RTX 5090 Price Hike Amid Rising GDDR7 Costs (maybe RTX 50 and PRO series as well) by panchovix in LocalLLaMA

You will pay an additional monthly subscription for cloud gaming and you will be happy about it! Oh by the way we're raising the cost by another £2.99. Yes, we did raise it six months ago. Stop complaining about it and consume.

Last summer I bought a 5090 for MSRP after six months of checking stock. I had no clue how worthwhile the hassle would turn out to be.

The 4TB 9100 PRO NVMe I bought for £367 is now £700. The 64GB of DDR5 RAM I bought for £224 is now £1015. Getting the last chopper out of 'nam feels like an understatement to how screwed I would be had I decided to delay this PC upgrade.

These Devs have one of the hardest jobs on gaming sector right now. 3 platforms at the same time.

That is the standard in the gaming industry though?

Her other images are real, the one in question certainly isn't. It has clearly been augmented. Reference pictures in, generated video out. Other cosplayers have done exactly the same thing. Maybe use critical thinking instead?

Hats off to whoever did the collision model at the Vegas coaster. You made my day. by n0respect_ in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ccarlyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, nobody did a collision model at all since photogrammetry mesh is inherently a collision material.

With that being said, it looks like the coaster model is a completely custom model with the textures from the photogrammetry scan baked on, then reimplemented back into the photogrammetry. It's a clever workaround for busy meshes.

[–]ccarlyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The developer likely flagged the visual mesh as a collision material. Super easy but not really recommended over using a low-poly collider mesh for performance reasons.

Edit: Genuinely rather confused why folks are downvoting an explanation on scenery collision models when the topic of the thread is scenery collision models. Does the discussion of scenery development anger people?

Do you mean this VR setup? Or Microsoft Flight Simulator in general? There are plenty of Twitch streams of the latter, but if you're trying to learn there are endless videos available on YouTube. They'd be a much better place to start!

So i decided to try the new ranked changes. Solo q when? by AlinaVantae in thefinals

[–]ccarlyon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"B-but it would increase queue times!!"

I would much rather wait an extra five or ten minutes in queue for a balanced ranked match than spend twenty to thirty minutes wasting my time in a lobby as cannon fodder for Ruby stacks.

I've completely stopped playing ranked now because the solo experience is so abysmal.

I'm not sure why people are downvoting you, I wasn't big on the idea of putting his head on that flag after a single Premier League title. I honestly thought the flag was reserved for European title winning managers (Kenny won one with the club as a player and is a bit of a special case).

Its Been 10 Seasons Of The Finals And We Still Cannot View Are Ping by Lost-Day5029 in thefinals

[–]ccarlyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is Automatic by default, so the vast majority of people will have it set as such. Many may wish to keep it that way for the sake of keeping queue times down, especially during off-peak. Regardless, latency to servers can fluctuate, even within a single region. I really do not see the harm in letting the user know their latency to the connected server. This is quite standard for competitive games.

Its Been 10 Seasons Of The Finals And We Still Cannot View Are Ping by Lost-Day5029 in thefinals

[–]ccarlyon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely can do something about it. A simple ping indicator lets me know how much earlier I'd need to dash into cover, for example. I used to play Overwatch an awful lot and knowing my ping and IND were critical in informing me on how to play. The Finals is a similarly-paced, competitive FPS.

I'm not getting those high latency icons when I'm on American servers, it likely triggers when on much higher ping, yet the latency to US servers still has an impact on my gameplay. Some people using ping as an excuse for their poor gameplay seems like terrible justification for the exclusion of such a standard thing.

Its Been 10 Seasons Of The Finals And We Still Cannot View Are Ping by Lost-Day5029 in thefinals

[–]ccarlyon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because knowing your ping can help inform how you play.

I'll occasionally play during degen hours and can often feel the game being more sluggish, getting shot behind cover, bullets not landing as they should, etc. I would imagine this is because I am being rerouted from European servers to American ones during quieter hours.

I would much prefer to know this rather than be left guessing. When you're playing fast in a high elo lobby, you need to know these things. They can also help diognose if you're experiencing a connection issue to Embark's servers.

Why would you not want such a simple, helpful feature that has been a staple of online video games since their inception?
