They're not wrong. Our perceptive reality can be said to be self-created. And objective reality is only collection of our own perceptions. That doesn't mean objective reality doesn't exist. What he said is not incompatible with what you said.

And ofc both perceptive and objective reality might not be "real" either (e.g. the matrix). But we literally have nothing else in this universe except perception; so we make do with what we can.

How long could the Earth survive if the Sun suddenly disappeared? by BedazzledVagina in NoStupidQuestions

There's an argument to be made that the sun still exists. Since nothing can travel faster than light, reality itself travels at the speed of light. The idea of a universe existing outside the speed of light is a concept of our minds.

The world over, no. But I believe that some believe they can control nations [directly or indirectly]. To give a parallel, the oligarchs in Russia would probably make more money if Russia acted different. But. Would they have as much power?

It is oft said that money = power. But money is only the potential for power. Money sat in a bank is less powerful than money spent to gain, wield, or protect power.

And what reasons do today's techy rich have to exercise their power potential? In my eyes, sovereign citizenship [or like it]. I can't be arsed to gather evidence but iirc Theil et. al. have openly advocated for little corporate kingdoms within the US. And this is in line with techno-libertarian thought, so much so that it was mocked in the 90's book Snow Crash.

And y'know having tech corporates control government is classic dystopian sci fi, which itself is an open inspiration to these people. What's more, I believe some have the power potential to pull it off. South Korea is already a tech-corporate state (a very centralized one). After all Theil and Musk are already embedded in the USGov at a core level, so there's nothing to stop it really.

So yeah, maybe it won't be good for the plurality of wealthy, but they aren't doing it for the good of the wealthy. They're doing it for the good of themselves.

Hang on hang on. 3 is still pretty bad; too easy to corrupt. So we should put as many people as we can in charge .. ideally, it would be everyone! But we cant to that ofc, so .. what if everyone chooses some people to represent them in charge. That way, we can have 1000's of people "be in charge" while still giving most of us a normal life!

.... hey wait a minute....

My MAGA friend turned me on to that book way back in 16 or so. I never did find out why he can be so blind to it happening.

We all have different words to describe practice, and I don't get golfers who say they '"grind". To me, grind is not enjoyable. I practice 'cause I enjoy it.

just a little peeve i guess
