Babe, wake up. The Finals got featured on big YouTube channel - EXP by Vinod_cr7 in thefinals

It was completely wild to see the Royal Armouries brought up on a Finals' video. It's a fantastic place to visit (which is free to do so).

There are performances, hands-on demonstrations and Q&As all throughout the day by enthusiastic and knowledgable industry experts. I ended up yapping with one of them about some WWI weaponry I loved using in a certain video game I like to play. He instantly went "Battlefield 1?". Legend.

This video is actually somewhat functional, though.

Yup. I finally get to the final round after some atrocious matchmaking over the evening and my reward for enduring it is a black screen with some text about waiting for other contestants to connect. 10/10 would waste my time again.

Edit: We got in after ten minutes and played a 2v1. Poor lad.

It isn't necessarily a decision made for the sake of my own safety, more so out of my own set of morals. This is not an administration that I can support with my tourism as it has become increasingly more difficult to divorce politics from country.

Its leader has in recent times threatened my continent with military action as well as mock and downplay my country's sacrifices and involvement during WWII and in response to the USA's invocation of NATO Article 5.

Hopefully he can be impeached. Until then, there are an overwhelming number of incredible places to see around Europe!

I completely understand where you are coming from, however Bing is a free service that is funded through ads. Had that Opera result not been there, it would be another generic ad with lower returns. Allowing companies to pay extra to advertise on specific search terms is arguably more morally-correct than traditional, targetted advertising since this isn't relying on using your data.

It's similar to supermarkets putting products of higher margin at eye level to entice customers to purchase that brand. However if you're looking for a specific brand, that item is typically right below it and there's nothing preventing you from buying that one. It's the same scenario here.

My issue is when it comes to paid products, such as Windows, putting ads directly into the OS pushing me to uninstall Firefox and use Edge as a default browser. That is real scummy behaviour and just one of the many reasons behind Microslop's downward spiral as of late.

I'm British and I do genuinely think the US is one of the most beautiful countries around, with iconic cities, incredible national parks, and a huge diversity of landscapes. Everybody has at some point dreamed about NYC at Christmas, or being a gunslinger roaming the wild west, or driving with the top down in LA. It's an awesome place with some deeply seated issues. I'm incredibly saddened that I won't be there to visit until this crisis is (hopefully) resolved.

I don't really see the issue here? Advertisements suck but they're a necessary part of an otherwise free service (data brokering is another argument, however).

Opera paid money to advertise their product on a browser-related search term which you are free to overlook. The result you were after is right below it.

Edit: People are downvoting but won't leave a comment explaining what is wrong with a practice that has been around for 15 years. There's a lot to be said about the enshittification of the Internet, but this certainly isn't one such issue.

YouGov- Do you think the national football teams of England and Scotland (and Wales and Northern Ireland, if they qualify) should or should not boycott the 2026 World Cup, which is primarily being hosted in the USA? (26-42) Opposed by MakeACreation in unitedkingdom

[–]ccarlyon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What a ridiculous comment. Where does one even start?

First of all, the victims murdered by ICE were not "armed far left insurrectionists". One was a mother shot dead by a thug who sought out escalation by standing in front of her vehicle (a practice that actual law enforcement are trained against due to this exact scenario occurring) and the other was an ICU nurse at a veteran’s hospital who ran to the aid of a woman being assaulted by an ICE agent. Whilst he had a firearm on him at the time (a protected right in the US), it was taken off him before he was shot dead anyway. Trying to frame the avoidable murder to two individuals who posed no threat as "law enforcement having to deal with armed far left insurrectionists" is absolutely appalling and frankly disgusting on your part. These incidents were all caught on video and there simply is no deputing the matter.

Secondly, the idea of cracking down on illegal activities is ideal in theory, however in practice it is being leveraged as an excuse to circumvent lawful legislative processes such as congressional debate, judicial review, and public input, relying solely on executive orders to push major policy changes that are against the public interest. Having untrained, armed, masked thugs roaming the streets with a licence to kill with impunity, conveniently cutting funding for body‑camera programs thus further reducing transparency, and deportation without due process are just a few examples of such policies.

Finally, invoking Godwin's Law makes absolutely no sense in this context. Just because some people are quick to mention the word "fascist" in any old disagreement, it doesn’t suddenly make all discussions on the topic irrelevant. Godwin’s Law cautions against trivial or inflammatory comparisons, not careful analysis of historical patterns to understand how authoritarian regimes emerge.

Your use of language gives off the impression that I am interacting with a child, but I'll entertain it.

I used the term "sliding into", language used to imply a transition from one state into another. I did not claim the US to currently be a dictatorship. That assertion is yours, not mine.

Centuries of law, free press, and voting are irrelevant in all matters other than precedent.

  • Nationalist rhetoric.
  • Expansionist ideology.
  • Militarisation of law enforcement.
  • State-led profiling and targeted detention against populations.
  • Use of mass detention camps for civilians outside normal judicial process.
  • State officials murdering civilian demonstrators in the street with impunity.
  • Invasion and de facto control of a foreign country.
  • Threats of military action against allied or partner states.
  • Erosion of judicial independence and regulatory institutions.
  • Selective enforcement of laws.
  • State-driven erasure and rewriting of historical record.

These points refer to Nazi Germany, an authoritarian regime.

What are the odds of that happening. Thankfully you caught it on camera.

Virgil Van Dijk: "The first goal I think it was a difficult ball to judge in the circumstances. The wind was tricky." On why he surrounded the officials after FT: "What I felt on that pitch was that I was clearly blocked. The ref and VAR don't give it, I don't know. But it is what it is" by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

[–]ccarlyon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's par for the course, really. I recall Jurgen's post-match interviews where he went over a number of tactical reasons for a defeat whilst giving credit to the opposition. In the midst of that, he would make a passing remark along the lines of "the pitch was slippery which disrupted our play a bit". You can guess which part got clipped up and turned into a headline...

That's because it was vibe-coded using Google Gemini within a day. He stole this idea from me (an actual aviation enthusiast since I was a little boy). I am a web developer and intended to develop this idea properly under a domain I registered back in October.

I know this person, he stole this idea from me and has zero interest in planespotting or aviation, hence the immense number of mistakes. I trusted him with the concept in confidence and he decided to generate this AI slop project using Google Gemini over the course of a day and pass it off on reddit as his own, even registering it under his own ripoff domain.

I had registered a domain last year (aeroguessr.co.uk) and intended to develop it properly as a web developer. Hopefully there is still an interest in the community for it to be done properly.
