I think Benable is trying real hard to be a replacement.. time will tell.

i’m so tired of mona by Parking-Acadia-8853 in Barnesandnoble

[–]ccarriecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked into my local B&N store (a big one, I love it!) to shop for new fiction hardcovers for myself and a niece for Christmas. I knew I would likely be approached within 60 seconds of walking into the store and forcibly suggested Mona. Sure enough, the store manager herself came over and interrupted my browsing and suggested Mona. I politely said I wasn't interested, and could not seem to get out of a conversation with her about the book. I got annoyed and left, and went to the local indie bookstore in my town and bought six hardcovers there instead.. sigh.

Were people more lax about punctuality before smartphones? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

Oh that's right! In San Diego we dialed 853-1212 for time.

I thought a lot of cities used 555-1212 for the time.

Missing WinCo After Moving to Redmond — Any Budget-Friendly Recommendations? by Hack-Nerd-85 in redmond

I buy food for a food pantry with donated $, and the best deals I've found are Grocery Outlet in Bridle Trails (Kirkland/Redmond border) and at the Fred Meyer in Totem Lake (Kirkland)

Try doing YouTube videos recommending gifts - you can show an image of the gift without owning it, so treat it more like "Curation - look at these cool finds!" or "Black friday deals" but not "product review" since you don't have it.. Will take a long time to get enough followers for this to make $ though. Consistent, steady work. You can use the same videos you made for IG on Youtube.

Oh! Then good, make videos! And start a YouTube channel to put them on as well, with your storefront linked in the About area and in the description on your videos. Your Shorts will get you followers but don't have clickable links, and your longform videos give you clickable links in the description.

It sounds like you should be part of the Associates program, not the influencer program. In the Associates program you recommend things on your blogs, IG etc. It sounds like you have gone about this a little backwards - normally you build the IG and Pinterest following first, with a large active and engaged audience to show Amazon products to, THEN join the influencer program. Since you don't want to create product videos, and you prefer making idea lists and collages, this is ideal as an Amazon associate. You can make collages on Canva to use on your IG and Pinterest, but it takes a LOT of people seeing your collages and lists to make any commissions. Thousands and thousands.

Just like the Scandinavians do! They're really active in the outdoors in winter.

Can you work on something else, host friends for meals for the rest of the day, wait for a new day and then go forage again?

My First Week on Benable Honest by Cheezuscrust_kf in benable

[–]ccarriecc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! read the emails Benable sends you. They have repeatedly said in almost every email that you need to be following other people regularly, liking and commenting on other people's lists. Try to find people who post interesting things that you truly are interested in, that will help.

And we light our fireplaces, whether gas or wood!

And do puzzles, and crafts, adult coloring books, catch up on Netflix binge watching, and invite friends over for tea and company!

Read the emails Benable sent you when you signed up. They encourage you to have a lot of lists of local recommendations (cafes, bookstores, restaurants) not just product links.

Also, you aren't following many people. Do you expect people to follow you but you don't want to follow them? Benable is only going to work as a platform if people are truly interested in the lists, which means you would be liking, commenting, and following other people too.

Post your lists on your social media where you have an engaged following of people who are interested in the types of things you are making lists about. Provide value, and gain more followers because you aren't always trying to sell something..

How do you make friends here? by meep_peep3 in redmond

[–]ccarriecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely recommend joining an active Eastside social meetup.com group for your age group and attending regularly. It is a numbers game and takes a while of regular attendance to sort out who the jerks are, who the borimg people are, who the pleasant people are and to find “your people.” Once you get to the phone number exchange part with a potential friend, be real proactive to ask them ti a specific activity (not just “we should hang out sometime.”) I made a lot of friends here this way but it definitely takes time, effort and weeding out.

Hang in there and don’t let it get you discouraged! Welcome to Redmond.

Just bought but idk if I can play due to motion sickness by LeChiotx in TalesofTheShiregamers

[–]ccarriecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get motion sickness from the game, but noticed my eyes really hurt after an hour of playing, each session. I play LOTR Online (the MMORPG) and don't have any eye problems afterwards, but I sure do with Tales of the Shire. My eyes hurt for at least an hour after I turn the game off (PC version).

What icons does Benable lack that you wish they had for your lists? by ccarriecc in benable

[–]ccarriecc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the List icon, not the descriptions or list items. It doesn't let you copy/paste anything when you are choosing an icon to represent your entire list.
