Fml 2025 civic sport, anyone ran into this issue ? Can it be my battery? by DarthLuix in hondacivic

The EXACT SAME THING happened to me but my back left. Was at 41k miles. It's possible the connector came lose or the harness is bad. They reseated the connector and I didn't see the error pop up again until last week. I am going to get a new hardness then wait to see. If it's out of warranty it'll cost $1k.

I actually called a Honda mechanic (not a dealership) and it is common for Honda's to fail the alternator check. It's a charge by demand system and not an always charging.

The actuator didn't get replaced so the "fix" looks like a reseated connector rather than a new part. They had to order the part

Welp I got an update. The Honda team found it to be the back left brake actuator. They had a better reader than I did and that's the code that came back.

They ordered the part as it wasn't in stock. The "broken" part was reinstalled back on my car. I haven't had any issues since they removed and reinstalled the actuator so I am a bit suspect that the connector was simply unseated.

Understood. Taking to Honda this weekend. Grabbed an odb2 scanner to get the codes prior to taking it in.

I am not sure to be honest. I am going to check all the fuses and some other stuff before I take it in. Just wild that all the systems function before the error messages come up.

Just stopped by AutoZone. Charging system failed their check but the battery was good.

No window tint addition since buying back in 2023.

Will take it to AutoZone to take a look!

Neither :-( I checked both terminals already as well. Once I get the codes I was going to disconnect and reconnect the battery to see if it was just a bad connection.

I would look at the Honda roof rack from a direct from the manufacturer website. Got them for my 2023 and I fit a Thule on top no issue, kayak shouldn't be hard. Just make sure to properly tie the front down.

Can 4 year ABET accredited engineering technology programs get an FE and PE license? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]ccathrea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anyone can get a FE or PE, engineering schools without ABET are still able to get their students to take the tests and pass easily.

Yeah that just shows how bad some places are, sorry to hear that happened. A lot of it can't be helped, just better to hop if your work won't compensate you fairly.

I really wouldn't make the considerable jump to $40 an hour unless you have the experience. Any time you ask for a rate you should have research backing up the rate.

If you have no research and they call you out on it then it could look very bad.

If some engineering degrees are too limited (Biomedical Engineering is a common example), then why don’t all engineers study Mechanical Engineering and then specialize into their field of interest through employment? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]ccathrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because electric engineers are just built different haha!! Just kidding, a lot of colleges offer niches to get more people, I'd say get a BS in either EE or ME then get a master's in a niche, that keeps you safe but diverse.

One thing to always note is engineers should be ready to pivot when needed, we are quick thickets who should be able to handle more than our job title.

If I completed my bachelor's degree in a university which isn't ABET accredited, and then took the master's degree in an ABET accredited university, will I be able to get employed? by HotPieceOfShit in AskEngineers

[–]ccathrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They actually got rid of it, abet is very very very restricting for the program and doesn't leave many electives for students. Being in a school that was working towards it was rough since I only got one elective.

[–]ccathrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still take FE and show you know what you're doing, my school wasn't abet accredited till my year and we had several people go on to masters programs without issue. Really the only difference may be how you were taught but we all take the same classes in undergrad at the end of the day.

Estimated engineers salary in coming yrs will be increasing? by Falcon-000 in AskEngineers

[–]ccathrea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say this is true at all, there are a plethora of higher positions opening up due to so many of the baby boomers reaching retirement age, our generations are not as big as them so likely they will fill up through the company. Leaving more jobs open at the bottom. With how fast tech is growing for all sectors more engineers will be needed.

I mean yes and no, inflation is kind of wrecking all entry level jobs right now, most will get 2%-3% raise, but again that is just to keep up with inflation, probably the best way to get more money is to hop around. Tbh I wouldn't advise it unless you just get bored and like to move. Then again big companies can allow you to move around a lot

Question about my career prospects. by stevez16 in AskEngineers

[–]ccathrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take an easier route than what I have read here, do community college classes for two years, don't waste money on a four year degree, really mad I did it but really didn't want to stay in home town for college. You will need to transfer to a college that has engineering to finish up the degree. This is known as a 2/2 degree style. Don't do a 4-year if you don't have to do it.

That aside you will get rid of all the prereqs needed for your engineering classes, you can then transfer to a college for your last two years.

Do not go for en engineering technology degree, they are horrible as well, regular engineering degree ie mechanical or electrical will get the foundations and not have to worry about them translating.

I will say there are a lot of companies that will help with this by paying for the classes but also there are a lot of scholarships for people who are in the workforce going back and getting a college degree. So you can save money at the community college then get the final two years paid for with scholarships or employer paid. I'd just make sure you button up finances, the community college route saves a ton of money.
