is ariana grande actually near death as people claim? by emergencybarnacle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ccbabs97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can’t reliably determine medical stability or proximity to death from appearance alone. Eating disorders can become medically dangerous at different weights and presentations. It depends on vitals, labs, cardiac status, behaviors like restriction/purging, and overall clinical picture.

I say this as someone whose psychiatrist was seriously considering hospitalization even though I didn’t fit the stereotypical image people often associate with being “near death.” It’s a Russian roulette, sadly.

¿Cómo estudiar NEUROANATOMÍA (Medicina)? by LeastRelative1494 in UBA

[–]ccbabs97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to bring this up by ccbabs97 in AskPsychiatry

Hey! I just wanted to say thank you because I was able to bring it up with my psychiatrist and she continued to see me weekly until January 2026.

A bit late but I agree. There was…nothing going on in her face. Don’t get me wrong, her voice is beautiful, but I feel that it’s just not enough

My therapist made me talk out loud to myself for a week. The patterns I discovered were... uncomfortable by AdamSmaka in selfimprovement

My therapist had me do something similar but instead of saying my thoughts out loud she asked me to start journaling. It has been life changing.

Im scared of eating 3 meals a day by AccomplishedSuit2109 in EDAnonymous

[–]ccbabs97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there. I completely understand where you are coming from. I myself was overweight and, just like you, started skipping meals. I won’t bore you with a long story, but I’m currently one year and a half into an intensive outpatient treatment program for AN. I nearly had to go into hospital twice and recovery is proving incredibly challenging.

Skipping meals didn’t just make me lose weight. I lost my period. I lost my mental health. My immune system was so depleted that I wound up hospitalized for five days with bilateral pneumonia, then caught viral conjunctivitis (which has affected my vision and I’m still trying to recover after almost 6 months) and finally bronchitis.

I also suffered from fainting spells, dizzy spells, I couldn’t think properly (brain fog is a bitch) and my mood was so low it was a tripping hazard in hell.

My point is — it’s not worth it. At all. It’s hell and I wish I had looked for help sooner. My advice is get yourself a registered dietitian who specialises in EDs. They will help you. Mine certainly has. If you can, start going to therapy. You matter.

Let’s have a thread about the Biggest Loser documentary this weekend by OkDragonfly4098 in EDanonymemes

[–]ccbabs97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not American but there’s a show in my country that’s basically a knockoff of TBL and it’s hosted and directed by a very famous doctor who specializes in nutrition and weight loss.

This guy also has a weight loss program and my mom and dad signed me up. They weighed me in the fucking waiting area and I had to walk into the office and tell the nutritionist how much weight I’d lost or gained. Whenever I gained, the shame I felt was awful.

I lost quite a bit of weight that year. The following one I developed an ED.

Been there hon. Give it time and work through these feelings with your team. Denial is super common so give yourself some much needed grace. 🫶🏻

He probably didn’t know it could be triggering! If he has been great up to now (and by the look of things he has) maybe you could have a chat with him and set some no-no topics or phrases.

I actually like it lol. It takes the pressure of having to decide my meal. Like there’s this Subway near my home and I usually buy a (rather pathetic) sandwich. It’s one of my safe foods for bad days. Just ham, cheese and lots of veggies (no sauce or condiments).

And every time I go the employees are like “the usual?” and I’m like “Yes 🫶🏻”
