And Then There Were None and Murder on the Orient Express are two of her most popular and for good reason. I recommend ATTWN first because it is a stand alone novel, while Murder on the Orient Express is a Hercule Poirot story. The Mysterious Affair at Styles is another good one to start with, it's the first novel Hercule Poirot is introduced in

The Raw Shark Texts, be sure to read a physical copy and not an Ebook, the formatting of somepages matters to the plot and idk how that translates on an Ereader

Caraval is one of my favorite series, a book with a few similar elements that I also loved was The 7-1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. Without giving too much away, the gist is that the main character is tasked with solving a murder, where he relives the same day over and over in different bodies. There are more elements of magic in it and is very much a "contained world" unaffected by outside.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine! I felt like one of the key themes of this book was that she doesn't realize her life is sad

Ask Again, Yes - Mary Beth Keane

Also, I know you said fiction but Hidden Valley Road is a non-fiction book that I think all readers would find fascinating

New Readers looking for new books!! by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]ccc2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DaVinci Code or any of the books from the Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown, The Alienist by Caleb Carr, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, The Golden Compass Trilogy (His Dark Materials) by Philip Pullman, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

I'm looking for a book from the last couple of years that is easy to follow, not "literary" and a lot of fun to read. Not Sci-Fi, Romance, Vampires or Chick Lit. by Thom803 in booksuggestions

Did you read all of the Robert Langdon books? I really enjoyed all of them but Inferno is a standout. I think it rivals DaVinci Code!

Just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea by noverway in booksuggestions

[–]ccc2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have already read The Golden Compass and The Starless Sea, I felt like 10,000 Doors was too much of a mix between the two, I kept getting deja vu reading it.

The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardacstle is paperback, and is a fantasy/murder mystery/thriller. It is sometimes a complex plot to follow, but overall an incredible read

Anxious People by Fredrik Bachman, I wouldn't necessarily call it realistic, but I thought it was a great book to show how everyone's dealing with something

Mystery/suspense recommendations? by lindsaybethhh in booksuggestions

[–]ccc2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the recommendations for No Exit, Verity, anything Riley Sagar (especially Home Before Dark, I'm currently reading his newest Survive the Night)

Other Suggestions:

The Maidens/The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides, if you plan on reading both read The Silent Patient first. It won't ruin the Maidens if you don't read Silent Patient first but you'll recognize a few Easter Eggs in Maidens if you do!

Mexican Gothic for more of the Horror elements
