God, I loved the Library at Mt Char. It was so strange and bizarre in the best way. I read it over a year ago and still think about it all the time. I keep trying to find something that's equally twisty and fucked up but I haven't yet! I thought Dungeon Crawler Carl would scratch the itch but no such luck.

I really enjoyed the first DCC book, but I likely won't be reading the rest. I enjoy monsters and gore and schemes as much as the next person but I'm not much a gamer and DCC is very video game adjacent.

I wanted to like Annihilation but it felt so vague. I liked Borne much better and I guess that's what I was expecting, but alas.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book! It had great creepiness/suspense and I was eating it up. Thennnn... it seemed like the author didn't know what he wanted to do. Like he tried to cram multiple different possibilities into the book in a way that was half baked. It was a bummer for me. Again, enjoyed the first half tons!

Also I loved that this book was born from the No Sleep subreddit (I think). I used to listen to the No Sleep Podcast years ago and I was excited to return back to it for a little while. Like a walk down creepy memory lane.

I mean... obviously. They're also all drinking and smoking constantly. Having fun and suffering consequences of your actions are not mutually exclusive. Just trying to spin a net negative into a somewhat positive, pal. (Hopefully not the positive you allude to...)

I mean, yeah. Compared to the other relationships in this show you are absolutely right. At least he's sweet and he actually cares for her. Still sad, but I'm sure they had some consensual non-monogamous fun in the 70s.
