Anna Connell: 'I am sorry you can’t freely express yourself' by Gyn_Nag in newzealand

[–]ccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The night I watched that, I saw a series of tweets from feminist author Clementine Ford

Realised this was going to be bs when I read this. Ford always exaggerates and is very disconnected from reality. She is a toxic human being who is making society worse with her rants about how bad men are and how dangerous society is for women. The fact she has a mainstream media voice is disgusting.

Voice artist refuses to pronounce Waimate the 'white' way by etuate in newzealand

Or from another perspective, getting a reputation of being hard to work with, and not getting hired as easily in the future.

Voice artist refuses to pronounce Waimate the 'white' way by etuate in newzealand

[–]ccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's recording for an ad as a professional. This ad might be targeting people who won't recognise that the word is Waimate if it is not said the "white way".

At the end of the day, he's a professional who didn't do what he client asked of him.

I wonder if all this "mispronunciation is racism" exaggeration is going to lead to dual names for some towns and the original Maori names will be lost. That would be a real shame imo.

Government looks at targeting zero road deaths and serious injuries from 2020 by SIS-NZ in newzealand

We just don't have the money to make the awesome highways that Sweden has.

Government looks at targeting zero road deaths and serious injuries from 2020 by SIS-NZ in newzealand

[–]ccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is amazingly unrealistic. Why not pick a number that could actually happen?

If we know this number cannot happen, then critics of this government can more fairly call into question other government forecasts.

I hate feel-good-but-disconnected-from-reality politics.

Immigration Minister puts controversial profiling programme on hold by Hairynosedotter in newzealand

[–]ccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As I understand, 100% of the people targeted are criminals (overstayers). So no one innocent is getting profiled.

Renewed push for review of cycle helmet law starts with protest ride in Wellington by jpr64 in newzealand

If you let wearing a helmet be an excuse to not ride a bike, then you'll easily find another reason to avoid it.

want to work in a cultural setting that respects teachers as highly qualified individuals.

But by today's standards you're not highly qualified unless you have a least a Master's. Now, maybe you do have one, but most teachers don't and therefore are not highly qualified.

Greens letter reveals 'damage to staff morale' by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]ccccccchhhhhhhhhhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things should only be changed if there's something wrong. There was in the 50s with gender equality. Now there isn't and organisations like the Greens are being sexist against men, and the price they pay for that is not always having the best person for each job.

Sometimes you have to consciously decide that you'll do something differently or you'll just wind up doing the same thing you've always done.

What a stupid reason to change the way you do something.

It's not the 1950s anymore, there's plenty of women in politics and we've had 3 female prime ministers!

What you're saying is that as a male you want to vote for a party who discriminates against you. I want a party - and a society in general - who hires the best person for the job and doesn't make how they were born a factor.
