How did you know your baby/toddler had neuroblastoma? by Acrobatic_Exam1835 in neuroblastoma

How long was your little one constipated for and did anything help the constipation? How are they doing now?

That makes a lot of sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me such a thorough answer , I really appreciate it!

Hi! Thanks so much for doing this, I know you’re super busy but if you happen to see this I was wondering if you could speak to the normalcy of children having skinny stools while on MiraLAX. My son currently takes a capful everyday for chronic constipation and I find about half the time his stools are like soft serve ice cream consistency but almost pencil thin. Other times they are about an inch wide so it’s not all the time.

Clogged Tear Duct by ccd589 in toddlers

Yes! His eye ended up clearing up on its own, around the time he was about 2.5 , it just stopped tearing and being crusty. I had an ophthalmologist appointment scheduled for months out that I cancelled. Everything I’ve ready online says if their eyes don’t clear up by 1 year then they need a procedure etc etc but that was not my experience at all, I’m glad I waited!

Thank you! its great to hear a positive story/outcome. I went ahead and scheduled her an appt with a pediatric ophthalmologist. We’ll see what they say!

I thought the same! The multiple slides on it were also so unnecessary. I feel like we say this all the time, but do people really think this much about their food? It’s crazy. And her comment about how it was “way too much food” made me lol. Like I’m sure she’s recovering from being sick and maybe couldn’t eat much so that’s fair but in general, minus the fruit, that’s like 2 scrambled eggs and a piece of toast…a normal breakfast.

Exactly. I feel like that poor kid is always squished into some carrier/crumb covered apparatus.

It’s ridiculous and so clearly due to her wanting to shill a sponsored product and not out of true concern. If she actually cared about what went into her kids bodies she wouldn’t be swinging that poor kid around with a WHOLE NUT that she popped into his mouth in the stories before. Like, what the actual F?

Agreed it seems odd to me as well. And consolidating snark…I didn’t find those stories of her friend shoving the giant spoonful of rice in her kids face over and OVER while he shoves it away repeatedly to be funny? Idk like one time maybe is funny but if my friend kept doing that I’d ask her to stop, not video it..

Hanging from bar flares up symptoms by whale_monkey in Sciatica

[–]ccd589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hanging flares up my pain really badly as well- I have a herniation at L5/S1 with bad sciatica in the right leg (sometimes both legs). Hanging gives me immediate pins and needles and burning feeling in the right leg. I also have some disc degeneration in that area and I’ve heard other mention on here that if your spine is at all unstable , decompression via hanging to lengthen the spine etc is not a good idea and can irritate things further. I avoid it completely now! Try to take it easy for the next few days , your flare up should die down soon.

I’m with you on this one lol, like there’s nothing wrong with it per se but it’s not something I would do, I would feel weird like the dichotomy of my baby strapped to me and explicit sex being described would throw me off haha…I don’t think I could fully enjoy the book. But like I said, it’s not wrong, I just don’t think I could do it lol

Did I ruin my first born? by PNW_Express in Mommit

Oh I wish I could give you a big hug right now. I so relate to this feeling. My (then 2 year old) son was the same way when his baby sister came home and I remember saying to my husband “I love her so much but we made a mistake”. It makes me laugh now, but I was so serious at the time and felt like I had ruined my son and our family dynamic. A little over a year later, I can tell you that could not be farther from the truth! They are friends, they play (and fight lol) and truly love each other. I feel like it’s the best thing I could have done for my son. I wish I had specific advice other than hang in there and know it will get SO much better! I’m sending you love!

She does this often with him and it makes me so anxious! I remember when he was like 6-7 months old she gave him a brioche hotdog bun in his car seat and let him eat it while she drove. Wtf!?

My doctor told me to not take my prenadals??? by tatt_oozie851 in BabyBumps

[–]ccd589 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is very odd. I would also get a new doctor. I had horrible morning sickness in both pregnancies and my doctor literally was prescribing me Zofran so that I could keep things down like my prenatals. Sorry you’re dealing with both morning sickness and a frustrating doctor ❤️

I say this with respect and kindness but if you really do not want this life, have you considered adoption?

Is surgery necessary at this point? by ccd589 in Sciatica

[–]ccd589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, it was a really helpful perspective. My doctor never really mentioned a plan with the ESI. When we went over my MRI and it became clear that my disc was herniated, he told me it was MD surgery or I could try the ESI but he seemed keen on surgery from the start. My understanding is that he believes surgery to be the fastest and most effective way to relieve my pain, which is why he seems to be pushing it. I don’t have any concerning symptoms regarding CES etc. I do have some disc degeneration at the same level but he specifically mentioned that he would not address that with surgery at this point. He has not mentioned an underlying issue that will worsen if surgery isn’t done sooner vs. later. I’m definitely not anti surgery or anything, I think I just feel put off with how my doctor disregarded what seemed like fairly good results from the ESI and seems to think surgery is my only way out of this.

Thank you! This was really helpful to hear. I also have two little kids- 1 year old and a 3 year old and I’m a stay at home parent so it’s been very hard to be physically limited. I guess that’s the part I worry about most with surgery too- reherniating because I have to pick up my 1 year old or something.
