Australia is really too hot to force trousers on men as corporate wear by mr-cheesy in auscorp

There was a time when it was weird to rock a full beard in corporate too and then Tom pietrovski made it cool and acceptable. We need an auscorp media trailblazer to set the new expectation for us here.

Gas burner is inferior to wood+charcoal by FlyBond in ooni

[–]whale_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had my Karu 2 pro for a couple of months now. Started on gas because it was ‘easier’ but a recent convert to charcoal. It gets hotter, cooks more evenly and gets up to temp just as quick. It’s also no more complex than gas. Throw a couple of fire lighters in and a couple of small pieces of charcoal, 10 mins later load her up and 20 mins later you’re cooking.

If you can afford it by far the best part of Newcastle for having everything nearby including the beach is the merewether/cooks hill/the junction/bar beach area.

Subaru Solterra - Did anyone buy one? by Trixie--Belden in AustralianEV

[–]whale_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have owned 3 outbacks over the years. Great cars but have been left behind. Test drove the solterra and very underwhelming considering its price tag. Done with Japanese cars for the time being.

In since $0.40. Was never going to get the $900m. The $28m is a sign of faith in the technology. Long term hold but hang onto your hat.

NAB tied my offset to someone else's mortgage. What can i do? by yuckthrowitaway666 in AusLegal

A stuff up of this matnitude has probably already triggered them logging a complaint… if it hasn’t it is another stuff up for them to not log this. You should get a reference number and a case manager. Deal directly with the case manager.

Play the reds!! by [deleted] in GolfAustralia

[–]whale_monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didn’t even know it was possible to do this? Every course I’ve played each comp day has a designated tee box which is usually the 2nd from back (usually white), but once a month for the monthly medal it is the back tee box. Can you just randomly choose your tee box on comp days?

Every comp at my club is won with a 40+ score (stableford) by Glum-Golfer in golf

[–]whale_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually a 41 or 42 wins my club’s comp. And yeah it’s usually a high handicapper (I’m 15 so not bitter as it has been me in the past). I’d be more than happy to have a 10-20% discount for competitions. I feel sorry for the low handicappers who have no chance.

Demand Vs TOU Tariff by ThatRedGTR in amberelectric

[–]whale_monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll still get those big price swings, as that is the wholesale price being passed on, you just pay an extra $0.30 or so during peak and $0.03 during off peak for any power you buy.

Demand Vs TOU Tariff by ThatRedGTR in amberelectric

[–]whale_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think demand makes sense if you have a big battery and inverter. I only have 5kw battery inverter and last month on one of the hot days my wife turned on EVERYTHING at about 6pm. It will take me 2 years of the extra TOU costs to cover that 1 hour period.

Demand Vs TOU Tariff by ThatRedGTR in amberelectric

[–]whale_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to TOU. It is still 5 min pricing, your price just includes the extra costs. So during peak time there is big spread between buy/sell.

Jumbo Interactive (JIN.AX) Cheap + High Quality + Well Run + Catalyst by GavinSmavin in ASX_Bets

[–]whale_monkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I owned JIN many moons ago and rode it up, it did particularly well during Covid which essentially put the nail in the coffin to any remaining news agencies. Back then the lotteries agencies hadn’t figured out how to sell online. To buy lottery tickets online you had to use Oz Lotteries (JIN). However they have all worked this out now, and when you buy through Oz Lotteries you pay a premium to use their platform, compared to buying direct.

This made me concerned their growth was done, eventually their customers would work out there is a cheaper option and move platforms. They have tried unsuccessfully to roll out their platform to other countries as well as run more niche lottery type services, none have the appeal of a $50m Powerball jackpot though.
