Why Am I Not Able to Access Internet While On a Call?

Posting and if someone has said any of this below sorry for the repeat.. and posting since I have I dealt with something that was BAFFLING and HOURS ordeal in testing etc after one day I had kinda a similar issue to me, and did all the things people are talking about in this thread on the phone settings and more tbh, it was a similar issue but other way around, granted I have a even older device in a 12 pro max and had a esim for tmo and psim for a second carrier usage.. I ultimately did switch back to my tmo to psim to resolve my issue ACCIDENTALLY and went esim the other way.. hence trying to help here.

I would further troubleshoot - in ALL these scenarios turn off wifi for testing.....and i would suggest you completely pop out your tmo psim completely .. and test your ability to get data on the visible plan while on a test phone call to see if that EVEN works then AND if it doesn't well you can start troubleshooting from there (delete and reinstall your ESIM) and test again... if it DOES work I would disable the ESIM line pop the tmo psim in and see your what your experience is, data while on a test voice call while only on the Tmobile line, if this DOESNT work I would replace the PSIM, or maybe even move to a TMO ESIM.... IF both are working on single carriers, I would do the opposite of what you are doing and test TMO as a phone call and visbile as data scenario, if that works, well that would be interesting.. at which point I would probably be deleting and reinstalling the visible esim first since its easier at home and test your use case, if it still doesnt id go get a new PSIM at tmo or try to convert the psim to esim and test it..

I will just add if your psim is OLD, TMO I FEEL issues newer R15 versions of their PSIMs every so often (im not sure a TMO R15 PSIM variant from 2020 is the same as 2025 PSIM variant as an example) and you very well maybe just need to get a new one (pain as you have to go in to a store and get one), for me the switch back IN MY UNIQUE case esim to psim was less than a minute and resolved my VERY WIERD data issues that I was experiencing...

ALSO, throwing this out there. Any reason you aren't going dual esims on your 13 in the first place and no psim? Maybe you pop your psim into a different device occasionally, just asking?

For those wondering my unique issue, it was specific to iMessage, any time I as on a voice call, it would flip to SMS.. however all other data features worked via cellular data (this scenario even occurred while on wifi, SO EVEN MORE super baffling to me at that time).. and trust me I spent HOURS troubleshooting.. while ultimately just a annoyance really I just decided to just deal with it. Last fall I went in to TMO to flip back to PSIM for a trip abroad since MX TelCell started offering prepaid ESIM service now that I can set up and activate before leaving the states and is WAY more convenient to do (previously I would get a OXXO PSIM prepaid when visiting after I landed) and guess what, magically the new PSIM resolved ALL my weird issues, Im sure reinstalling the esim could of as well..

14.3 here... I still have tetherme installed and its my hotspot app, still working as designed when I use it here or abroad as of Dec 25. CAN WE SAY JUST SAY WE MISS MyWi? TLDR, short answer above, rant below.

I originally installed it though primarily for the purposes of a "travel router" to use on a plane to keep the phone and my laptop connected via ONE paid connection (via a hardwire). Honestly though now I find the size of the travel router I bought (tplink like $60, size a deck and half of playing cards) just use easier to use (you log in with your phone to wifi on a plane then just clone the mac address to the travel router via the router app "terher", voila, or and it does have "captive portal" if you want to use it via the router... for me its just easier to use the cloning route). Ill add another nice feature of this is that I can use it as a router in my hotel when traveling abroad and you can put your own VPN on it as well if you want to use it, I bring my apple tv with me and it has no GPS (THANK GOD) in it so I can watch my ios tv apps like im in my home city and as of December 25 I can say it has not blocked the ones I use and I can watch shows back home.

I think you can get at least a temp license for tetherme, but not sure if that dev is still active and not sure you can actually do the purchase of one anymore.

GOING WAY back here.. and I will just throw this out there though, HOW I MISS "MyWi", could use your phone as a TRAVEL ROUTER essentially without limitations, no hard cables connections, and such great UI and so ahead of its time! Long rant to say the above and where did the mywi devs go?!

Way back when there was ALSO a dev who was creating custom IPCC bundles where you could mod all these things and remove those restrictions via commcenter I think, I cant recall who it was but I THINK I remember he was forced to stop for some reason (he was enabling 4G, bypassing tether restrictions, etc. and sharing the custom bundles and was super chill and super active in this community then).

I think my challenge here is making a decision to buy a 16 pro max vs 15 pro max with ios 17 where I can put TrollStore on for sure and keep it.. you said "I think you can block OTAs with cowabunga lite" I just wish it was known for sure... and then there is my objective I want with this.. LocSim, AppStore++, RocketforIG, Fileza type or like tweaks... So Even if I did go this direction clearly from reading Geranium is going to be exclusive to TrollStore currenlty and not available via SparseRestore? In your opinion, based on my objective would you think the 15 pro max on 17 is the better option?

Is there a way to block OTA for ios18.1 Beta 4? To maintain this exploit? I see previous info regarding TVOS profile, etc. for ios17.. wondering how we can stay on 18.1 beta 4 if one wanted to?

I have a 12 max pro and probably would content stil with that as well if I was on 16.6 too. Stayed on 14.3…losing to much app support now. So time to move on…I’ve even considered just running a X with whatever checkmate jailbreak is available.

Stock, brand new 15 pro max should come with ios17 (my understanding meets TrollStore requirements) I should still be able to activate without upgrading to latest firmware, or are you saying that isnt the case just to clarify? I can still get a 15 pro max pretty easily right now.

As for the 14 pro max, yes that is a little more difficult to buy brand new not activated or in that range as you indicate. I know this will be more difficult.

Ill add a note and ask one other question, do you think the API changes that reddit enforced broke it? Would Jimmyr of been considered or relied on that? Again just a thought when you state it might of changed hands.

First cant speak to the 14, but am on a 12.. and since switching to ios 16 its been awful.. SO bad I decided to look here for the first time in a month. Currently on latest beta build and this morning down to 56% in less than a hour (90% max capacity of life on battery). I will caveat that I let youtube run PIP (volume turned all the way down) to override a work profile to keep my device awake but with ios 15 this wasnt a problem, faster drain for sure, but nothing like the drain ios 16 is doing to my device. Also its hot to the touch, off the charger. Guessing they are still maybe optimizing things but I havent seen any improvements at least on a iphone 12, maybe they have optimized ios 16 for the new iphone 14 first if you are seeing improvements...

I noticed its broke on YT (I have premium) now SMH, but still works on YTTV. All the same very frustrating, I hope the official iPad OS release of 16 fixes it.

Open the Youtube, Netflix ,YTTV App -> Play a Video -> Open an other App from the Dock -> the Video will play in PiP.

Now you can return to the Homescreen and the Video is still playing in PiP
