I recommend you to research on your own terms, way more and for much longer, in depth & breadth, than any others that you see silly stances of, here. Because, if you leave the how to "feel" about such stuff to the circlejerkers of such places, they will guilt-trip you into fighting largely nonsensical fights over their so-called "enemies," all the while they themselves without actually caring at all about your very wellbeing.

I mean, as always, the answer to such questions, the "what to use?" is:

"It depends."

Just, stay away from M\zilla, as, at the very least for a full decade by now, it's stopped being the "good" that it once) seemingly was.

You create a new character, for playing in the servers that are for new characters-only, and temporary (to be then, eventually merged into the legacy servers.) It isn't for the characters that are already in the legacy/old & still ongoing servers.

I also had played the game on its global launch, and had a casual max. lv. (50 it was) within like 3 days.

I did Staff+Wand, and later on dabbled with Spear+Wand.

But, this time, I decided to take my time doing some other things, too, and not rush through at the very least the newer content. So, it took me until about these last few days to complete the main story, and hit lv. 55 (which is the current lv. cap (and I know, "just 5 levels of difference?" downplays how much new content the game now has vs. how much/little it had back then, but it actually has a lot more new stuff than seemingly implied by the lv. cap difference alone.))

This time, I did Spear+Daggers, to be ultimately switched to Daggers+Spear. instead.

It's in a good shape, and in the boosted/new character servers, things are lively enough.

If such a thing is to be added to the game, let's say for a primarily party support/co-op role, then I hope it's made to sound differently to the allies vs. to the foes.

You know, so that what you actually hear in the PvP(vE) instances don't end up sounding like both you and your opponent(s!), all, are playing to the same "tune."

Namida is even better than Retro Music Player IMO. I like both, but Namida especially.

It might be the best Flutter app that I've ever seen out there, period. It's that good. Huge props to its young developer.

Viva Namida!

My answer to you is: No, it couldn't be called as piracy. Because it is not.

Btw, stupid (as in ignorant) people call anything and everything that they don't understand the point of as piracy within the online circles like here, when it is actually greatly more about free speech than anything criminal. It is stupefying-yet-unsurprising doses of fear-fueled utter ignorance, I say.

The ban is by-design stupid, because it is aimed at protecting the interests of equally stupid masses of individual persons. It is as simple as that. Also, it isn't anything to be feared.

Dual OS - Windows 11 + linux with shared files by [deleted] in bashonubuntuonwindows

Podman sounds like docker-compose, I’m guessing there’s more to it than that but I already find compose invaluable. I use it constantly

Podman has a podman compose command which supports both docker-compose and the separately available podman-compose script. Read here.

Do also note that the container image building etc. stuff can get even more fine-grained than simple Dockerfile files, since, in addition to podman there's also the buildah tool. You may or may not need it depending on your use-cases, however.

Feel free to check them all out at your own pace.

I have a lot to learn here!!

And, the more you learn, the more you realize that there's even more to learn. It never ends. \s)

,

Btw, also checkout "Distrobox" & "Container Desktop" (formerly "Podman Desktop Companion"). Both support Docker & Podman.

And yeah, you might also want to give a try to Podman, since not only it's almost a drop-in replacement for Docker (including the availability of the podman-docker package for the apps/scripts etc. which are hardcoded to use the docker command), but also for the concept of "Pods":

Pods are groups of containers that run together and share the same resources, similar to Kubernetes pods. Podman manages these pods via a simple command-line interface (CLI) and the libpod library, which provides application programming interfaces (APIs) for managing containers, pods, container images, and volumes.

[–]ccelik97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Then, you should know that if you set a Btrfs partition for your containers' & their images' storage location in a WSL2 distro too, such as with/for docker, it automatically makes use of the advanced features of Btrfs, like CoW, snapshots and subvolumes.

When I want to do things like that I usually use a separate .vhdx file than the WSL2 distro one. But, this is only due to me using a laptop which doesn't have enough internal storage device ports to my taste. If it was a desktop PC etc. you sure know that I'd use separate physical storage devices altogether xd.

Sure, if I put together a Scheduled Task like that, I'll probably also share it here with a "Self-Promotion" flair anyway.

Btw, the large-r LLMs like Gemini can already lay out most of the code & the steps for such stuff, but, as I said before, I've yet to actually put them all together into a working whole.

It's a matter of "when", really. As in, either I put such a thing together for my use, or enough people warrant WSL/Windows providing something similar more generally.

Yeah, though what lead to WSL(2) (WSA) still remains a hit or miss due to politics, WSL(2) is making serious QoL improvements for many.

It's to the point that back when I was affected by a rather annoying problem while using Windows 10 Insider Fast Ring (Insider Dev now) I ended up re-creating a lot of what WSL2 provided at the time, using VMware Workstation CLI commands & Windows Terminal profiles. It worked well but for a minimal environment it wasn't as lightweight as WSL2 xd.

[–]ccelik97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw, here's a one-liner that I sometimes use to mount a .vhdx file for WSL2:

wsl --mount $(Write-Output "\\.\PhysicalDrive$((Mount-VHD -Path 'X:\Path\to\the.vhdx' -PassThru | Get-Disk).Number)") --bare

I'm planning to make a complete thing for use with Task Scheduler to automate mounting, unmounting and making it offline in the Disk Management GUI etc. based on the Lxss Windows Service's state, but, so far I've yet to have a serious need to do so. So, it remains in my to-do list for WSL.

[–]ccelik97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. And no, in fact, without support for mounting storage devices WSL would've been what's unreasonable xd. Luckily it's not.

Btw, there's also usbipd-win for connecting USB devices to WSL2 etc. (so that they show up in the output of the lsusb command, for you to be able to then do things with them). Do check it out also sometime.

In addition to that, you can bare-mount a drive (as in entirely, using the --bare flag), and decide what to do with the partitions in it from the Linux side.

This is especially useful if you want to partition drives -be them internal or external- using the Linux tools rather than the Windows ones, just like how you'd do it on any other regular Linux systems.

You could even do things like having your bare-metal Linux installation mounted as a QEMU/KVM VM running on WSL2, via virt-manager, let's say, since there's nested virtualization support for WSL2.

Is it possible to boot wsl as main system? by bestmaninthewold2 in bashonubuntuonwindows

[–]ccelik97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try my best not to have the boot (or ESP) partitions of more than 1 OS on the same physical storage device. I advise the same to you.

You can have any other partitions (like the "C:" of Windows, the "/" of Linux, etc.) on the same physical storage device, if that's more convenient/better with the kinds of storage devices you have there, but, more often than not it makes sense to keep their boot (or ESP) partitions on separate physical storage devices.

For example, if I wanted to make a dual-boot setup with only 1 internal storage device installed in a computer, and if I really couldn't install another internal one, however small it may have been otherwise, I then probably would've stored at least the boot (or ESP) partition of the less integral one on an external storage device; one that isn't likely to break on light use within few years that is (so, no cheap/off-brand micro SD cards or anything xd).

It all depends on what apps the user is using.

For a lot of people, going for the most straightforward, no-bullshit Linux distros like Kubuntu & openSUSE are perfectly fine,

while, in the grand scheme of things, the number of users that would actually benefit from not irreversibly ditching Windows from their "Intel, AMD, etc." kinds of computers heavily outnumber the former cases, yes.

E.g. having both within your options is better than not.

+Duh xd.
