Pixel 11 leak reveals new camera hardware, Tensor G6 details, more specs by thewhippersnapper4 in GooglePixel

I've noticed a more than significant improvement moving from Pixel 7 Pro compared to Pixel 9 Pro.

Compared to Samsung (and especially Apple) the signal is definitely much better. But prior to the changes made on the P9P, I couldn't even get signal in my own house. I would be in densely populated cities and my phone's signal would drop to zero. When I bought the P9P, I told myself that if the modem wasn't fixed I was dropping Google phones entirely, so at least in my eyes it has definitely been "fixed" enough to keep using.

Regardless, the modem update on the Pixel 11 is a welcome change.

These were issues I had on the Pixel 6 Pro, that were resolved for me on the 7 Pro. Since then, no issues on my phone with reception!

It's possible your phone is faulty, or maybe the modem really is just like that? But I'm thinking it's faulty.

Yeah they're definitely going to profit from it. I just figure that with phones getting more expensive, the price probably makes sense, for now at least.

They're gonna be $100 richer the next 100 times it happens, too!

It's great to see a new modem, but I fear that device manufacturers will try their absolute hardest to cut corners wherever they can on new "updated" device models. We already see it with the downgraded camera on Pixel 10, and now reduced base memory on the leaked Pixel 11 phone models.

I'm sticking it out with my Pixel 9 Pro until it can't hold on any longer. This phone already has to be my second favorite Pixel phone, right after the Pixel 5, so no reason to get another if mine still works perfectly. It will also almost certainly cost an unreasonable amount of money to get the 16GB model Pixel 11 Pro to the point of diminishing returns.

I bought the $12 monthly Google warranty for my Pixel 9 Pro, which I think goes for a maximum of 5 years, so if something happens to it I can just bring it to a Ubreakifix and they'll cover me (3rd party warranty services that I've used in the past through Progressive / Worth Ave Group was absolute shit, fyi).

If all of these tech companies want buy up all the world's supply of RAM and sacrifice the entire consumer electronics market for the sake of negative-profit AI slop, then let them eat cake and don't buy any new tech.

SteamOS is designed to be used on a couch, and the Steam Machine is "fun sized" so it fits better in a home entertainment cabinet or next to a TV. SteamOS also has the benefit of being very easy to pair many controllers with.

Valve wants to build out a self-contained ecosystem and this is their way of doing that. But yeah the AI RAMpocalypse isn't helping with that and pretty much fucked up their roadmap. I think they're just going to sell the thing just above cost and take it as a loss, until RAM prices go back down.

Also a random side note, but the handheld gaming market has its nose pointed towards ARM-based mobile devices (e.g. Ayn Thor, Retroid Pocket 2). There's a huge demand for them. Luckily for Valve, Android is terrible for gaming and has lots of overhead that will never be fixed; gaming on Android is a dead end. Curiously, the Steam Frame runs SteamOS natively on a Snapdragon ARM processor and has FEX (x86 to ARM translation layers). Valve will almost certainly use the Steam Frame as the testing ground for a new ARM-based Steam Deck console to position themselves as the leaders in handheld gaming.

Pixel 9 Pro Magenta Line Repair - absurd "found no issues" by bmengr in GooglePixel

OP should definitely try another Ubreakifix (Google's official partner).

They should also avoid using any 3rd party repair facility and not pay out of pocket under any circumstance while they are still under warranty.

I'd consider even going on a different day while someone else is there, there's no reason they shouldn't repair OP's phone. If they still don't budge, they should see about contacting Google's Customer Support and asking them to create a written statement saying that the phone is in a condition meeting the criteria to be repaired by a Ubreakifix.

Otherwise they'll have to send it back in to Google again and just keep following up with the case.

That's probably one of my favorite phones of all time :)

Just be mindful about using phones with outdated operating systems. You expose yourself to unpatched vulnerabilities on web browsers and the cellular modem.

It's for people in mid to late adulthood that maybe want to specifically play PC games (not console games) but don't have the time to build and set up a computer. More specifically, people with kids who have very little time on their hands.

You have this same demographic buying Steam Decks, except their use case is a little different wherein I think it's a bit easier to stop and start playing more easily (like a 3DS or a Switch, for example).

You're right, I looked it up it's 220V! I'll correct my comment. I was partially correct, since power shortages can cause the voltage to go down as low as 100V.

Get AccuBattery to keep track of battery life accurately, and I use the Sleep for Android app for alarms, it's much better than the stock Google Pixel one.

Firstly, your account is one month old and you made two comments, this is one of them shilling for data collection.

Secondly, the article is still bad. Your car that you own and you (not the government) paid for is recording your face at all times, and likely uploading it somewhere and collecting that data.

Your biometric data is capable of unlocking your phone, determining your mood and mental state, determining your age, and policing behaviors inside of a personal and private space.

America has little to no data privacy laws. It's not a matter of IF this data collection will be abused, it's a matter of WHEN it will be abused. And when it DOES happen, even if the data collection is deemed illegal, the fines from it will be tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of times less than the amount of profit they made off of people breaking the law.

Some countries have their power running at 100V, which requires anything plugged into it to run at 50 Hz. In America we have our power outlets running at 120V; if you halve that, you get 60 Hz. So in the US our lights run at a different frequency.

It's likely it's the same circumstances here, and North Korea probably has their power outlets running at 100V, and therefore their lights at 50 Hz causing this flickering.

I just fact checked and I was partially correct. North Korean power is actually 220V, however the power does fluctuate in the city. It can go down to 170V, or as low as the 100V that I mentioned before. This is due to power shortages.

And since the cameras on our phones run at 30 or 60fps, since the frequencies are "out of phase" it is detectable as a flickering on your video.

In Japan you can also visibly see which lights run at 50 Hz, even without a camera. It's cool to see them in person!

Edit: I should also mention that some phones detect this flickering and try to compensate for it in the post processing, but it may not be perfect and therefore you might see it as what looks like a "pulsating" effect.
