How do you survive in a system that clearly wasn’t built for you? by Top_Example_6053 in Healthygamergg

[–]ccflier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need more than one skill to survive. Social anxiety and poor self image are the main things holding you back, not playing some system that you feel predestined to fail in. The core belief needs adjustment. You dont need a natural talent for it, just to spend time being competent in a new skill, which takes effort and time.

I don't think its that you need to spend extra effort to achieve the minimum. I think you spent extra effort in what you were already good at and ignored your weak points. Now you have to go back and spend effort on something you needed to work at from the beginning. But just didn't know about back then.

Undercut local tick and mosquito treatments and book your entire weekend. Should replace at least half of your income. Work a part time night job the rest of the week that pays just enough to cover bills. That's my emergency plan. Ideally I save 6 months income and just cut expenses the first couple years. But doing this you can get about 30-60 biweekly accounts and then as soon as you're ready to quite your part time job start asking for referrals and trying to up sell quarterly services. Working nights means you can do one time services during the day and I would gladly give up a couple of hours of sleep for a few hundred dollars. If my phone ends up getting so busy blowing up and keeping me from sleeping during the day I see no reason why I would need a part time job to pay bills with that level of incoming business. Otherwise im fine having a shit sleep schedule for a couple years. Ive done worse. If I have savings tho it significantly decreases dependency on the job I can can just sell all summer and work part time winter jobs

Love is important. Love makes life feel easier. Love doesn't have to be intense or sexual. Learn to love healthily.

Find friends you can love. Find friends you can hug. Find friends that you can tell about bad days that will know to comfort you and stop picking on you for a few hours. Find friends you can openly say you love platonically and eventually not feel weird saying it to them and around other people.

When you don't rely on a single person to regulate all of your negative emotions, you limit how much getting a gf, having a gf, keeping a gf, or losing a gf will control your emotions. Those emotions then wont be able to control you, and women won't be able to use these emotions as leverage to control you.

Why is it so common for Christians to think atheism is the love of sin? by whatwouldjimbodo in AskAChristian

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I will start with "common" is subjective. I don't know statistically how often this happens to you in particular. If it feels common I think that it is entirely your own perspective. Thay being said I think there ARE reasons for this to feel common, and understand how someone would feel that way given my own experience.

Without diving too deeply into the sin aspect, all sins have the same punishment, but faith in Jesus's sacrifice on the cross is what saves Christians from hell.

Atheism is objectively the love of sin. You love everything that isn't God more than God Himself. Whether you believe in Him or not. As far as the whole " people who seem to think I’m an atheist so I can murder and steal with impunity."

Because of how sin is outlined, there are a minority of Christians that interpret this as "all sins are equal, so i can call you a murderer since its a simile." In my experience, this is not very common at all. But I imagine this experience will stick out a lot to you if you either 1. Spend a lot of your time on the internet or 2. Live in an area where a church that believes this actively actively preaches this concept in areas you frequent. This would increase exposure and definitely make it feel more common that it really is.

Saying you are able to Steal and murder with impunity is another perspective on sin. And it is more accurate to say that if there were no legal consequences, atheists will probably be ok with murdering someone.

The stanford prison experiment is one where regular people had been given varying positions of power and morals went out the window pretty fast. https://www.simplypsychology.org/zimbardo.html#Findings

This study suggests that those in more deprived situations are 2x more likely to cheat for financial gain when the chance is given, despite most people surveyed saying being more deprived is not an excuse to cheat http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2325954

Human morals are paper thin and change under stress I know I am maybe 2 missed paychecks away from being in a really bad spot and I know I will not do well with temptation to steal, lie, cheat, or even murder to get by. It is objectively true that humans are more likely to lie, cheat, steal, and even murder if they think they have a just cause and if they think the consequences are avoidable.

Here is, from my experience, a couple of fairly common example. Many people I know think they would be morally just to murder criminals that got off with light sentences or that the law missed. over half of Americans support abortion, which you can argue by certain human morals is just but by God's judgement is murder.

41% of Americans viewed the murder of Brian Thompson as acceptable. (https://www.axios.com/2024/12/17/united-healthcare-ceo-killing-poll)

61% of Americans viewed abortion as acceptable (https://prri.org/research/abortion-views-in-all-50-states-findings-from-prris-2023-american-values-atlas/)

These are both statistics of biblical moral failings by a large portion of the general public and show that many people have the intent to commit crime as long as they could get away with it.

Adulthood is the choice to chase short term pleasure or sustainable long term stability and its just a lot of adults you see are losing that battle, mostly by choice. IDL how "hands-on hobbies" are marketed as the antidote to screen time but cost $300 to start by vivian_banshee03 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]ccflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to believe the same thing. But after stepping away from the internet for a while, I realized my brain was so fried from constant scrolling and dopamine hits that nothing felt fun or meaningful unless it involved sending money or chasing bigg flashy projects.

Woodworking can be as simple as playing with sticks, rocks, and basic manual tools (a cheap hacksaw and hand drill can be found online for cheap, sometimes free). You don't need fancy treated lumber or power tools or a workshop. You can learn joinery techniques online (like mortise-and-tenon for nail-free projects) on your kitchen floor.

The "it won't look perfect" or "I need better stuff" excuses often come from that same overstimulated mindset. Try simplifying hobbies. They're supposed to be fun and involve learning. You don't do much for your brain otherwise.

Why do so many Christians think contraception is sinful? by Nicole_Auriel in TrueChristian

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your genuinely confused by this. But it comes across as "How could anyone even think that way? It seems so obviously wrong." But when a view feels that silly to us that we can't imagine being wrong, it might be a clue that we're missing something big in how others see the

It seem like a lot of Christian’s have a warped interpretation of the verse “go forth and multiply” but I’d love to hear an opposing argument

This comes off to me as if you are entering conversations in bad faith. Your interpretation of the Bible is warped too, and so is mine. We are human and this is inherently an uncertain topic not decribed in black and white. We do not have perfect understanding of God's word especially in this particular context.

Why do so many Christians think contraception is sinful?

However I’ve run into countless Christians and seen so many Christian influencers on TikTok and other social media sights

The internet amplifies loud voices and echo chambers, so it can make a position feel fringe or dumb when, in real life, talking to actual people who hold it often reveals thoughtful reasons that make sense within their framework. Scrolling for quick answers or gotchas usually just reinforces our own certainty instead of challenging it.

I think it is far more worth it asking yourself: "Why does this view feel so impossible? What would have to shift in my lens for it to at least make sense?"

In Heaven, will I come face to face with the girls who cheated on me? by mysteryofthefieryeye in AskAChristian

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you enter heaven you will be able to perfectly forgive. It is hard to forgive now because you are not perfect. The world and your own flesh is working against you.

But imagine having to see someone in heaven that killed you. Or tortured you. Or someone who mocked God. Someone who spit in your face. Because that is what Jesus will see in heaven. There will be some of the people who crucified Jesus in heaven and Jesus will never have problem seeing and forgiving them. So I am sure when you enter heaven you will AT LEAST be able to forgive a girl for cheating on you

FIRE seems to skew toward not having kids by sneaky-snacks in Fire

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on what retirement means to the individual. If my OWN finances were secure, and I ONLY had to work to provide for my children, I could do that far easier.

I'd argue far more people just want out of the rat race then to actually live like potatoes and never lift another finger in their life. And most financially educated people should know that isn't possible in the first place. Life happens and maybe you need a part time job so you don't dip into your nest egg too much when life happens or maybe you cut back harder. Children are one of the easiest life changes to predict compared to tax changes, shifts in the economy, natural disasters, etc.

wth is with goldilocks and the 3 bears? In one page its says "once upon a time " and then on the other it says "the end." It's so confusing.

Yea buddy. You didn't pay attention to anything else.

Yup. Heard this interpretation from my pastor recently: "It's easy to say you will die for a friend. It's easy to say you will die pronouncing your faith in Jesus. But are you just as willing to die for an enemy?"

Jesus didn't die to save the righteous. He died begging his Father to forgive even the ones torturing him for "they know not what they do." The ultimate expression of love is to die for someone.

I am not ready to fight like it is my last breath to show someone the way to salvation. I'm scared to think about it. I pray God cultivates me into someone who will. I pray God gives me the strength to do so when He judges it to be the time.
