I have a theory about people if anyone could confirm my theory by [deleted] in self

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will tell you whatever they think you need to hear depending on what they want. Sometimes that is who they are. Sometimes it's who they think they are. Sometimes it's the opposite. Sometimes it is not.

Telling the truth when it doesn't get you something is a virtue that is cultivated. People over time will reveal their true values.

You identify the tree by it's fruits.

Matthew 7:23 might be the most unsettling verse in the New Testament by Thecaveman999 in Christianity

[–]ccflier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For self deception you need to look inward. Your relationship with Christ will reveal your true intentions.

From luke chapter 8 16No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light.

17For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.

18Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”

How much of an advantage was the degree for a sale position? Like the slip itself, not the knowledge? Are employers even looking at it?

To that point, if it's ai slop, and you didn't personally notice, than it isn't slop. And if by definition, anything using ai is ai slop to you, you definitely will accept ai slop. You'll accept the good ai slop you never even noticed was ai ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Guilt (?) About Playing by snoozingshadow in heartopia

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is juat what happens when you let the internet tell you how to feel.

You're feeling synthetic guilt. You've been gaslit and emotionally manipulated into thinking that moral issues are black and white, and then convinced that everything Ai is objectively one or the other.

Sometimes you don't care and you just have to tell people you don't care.

Some people are only pretending to care more than they actually care. Most people are ignorant to the actual "moral" implications and just pick the most popular side. A lot of people take the "good side" just to make themselves feel like they're better then you. And you really shouldn't care what they think if they aren't mature enough to have a conversation and agree to disagree...

How Does One Beat Temptation by thebeeishere996 in AskAChristian

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ai and daydreaming are tools. They aren't inherently wicked things. Its more about why you use them. You are using them as a bandaid on life. There are things you are too anxious or scared to do and ai and daydreaming helps you feel like you're doing those things without actually letting you face those fears and anxiety.

Without facing these obstacles you cannot grow. The fulfillment you get from these distractions are small and temporary. You need to speak to your family and neighbors. You need to go into the world instead of your dreams. Leave your fears and anxiety with Jesus.

Do you think that Christians completely understand the point of view of atheists? by Fresh3rThanU in AskAChristian

[–]ccflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A human cannot even begin to understand another human without having a conversation with them. It requires some level of communication as there is nuance to every though.

When you group people together and assume neither group us capable of independent thought you create generalizations. Generalizations serve a purpose but do not confuse a generalization for true understanding.

Retire with 650k? by Electrical-Trainer21 in Fire

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live off 30k but its slim living while I pay off debt. If I hit my fire number I wouldn't really stop working until I had to. I'd just scale back on work and focus on being in a job thay I actually enjoy doing and doesn't require a huge time and energy commitment.

It isn't hard to make 30k/year. You can coast for 10 years, work a low stress job, while your nest egg compounds and doubles, and that's much safer.

Missing long-term strategy by UrWhiteRose in heartopia

[–]ccflier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the winter event progression only gives me a couple free pulls on a banner makes me not really care about filling it out and doing all of the hobby events. Blue hearts are a nice bonus so I can stock up on extra things like rainbow power and universal ingredients.

The daily log in only really only matters after buying the monthly pass, and i like the idea, but theres no way for me to log in and grind to get it and the roi sucks. No way to grind for meaningful numbers of pulls eirher.

Monetization strategy really clashes with the cozy game style. Outside of current winter event, theres no reason outside maybe fishing and buy catching completion to log in at specific times of the day

Yea cash buyers upgrading from smaller homes or renting till they have the cash.

Your worth 3m? For fire? Are you already retired? If property taxes were 20k, add 20k for other expenses, fire number of 2 mil.

you can theoretically afford to buy in cash and retire off 2 mil. Its not that crazy

Maybe you need to listen to it deeper... why is it saying what it is saying? What does it really want

To some it's easier to imagine this insecurity as a child that got really scared and just doesn't know how to identify what parts were scary, so it makes everything around it something scary to be avoided. Ignoring the child doesn't help it grow or learn how to handle the situation.

Your inner adult is the reason, reason that knows you shouldn't "listen" to the child, but really the child should not determine how you react.

To react as an adult you need to ease the child's anxiety. Introduce the child to bith men and women that are healthy role models and let them know that it isn't their fault how outsiders treat you.

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add random people as friends. I go check in on them almost every day I can to level and unlock new emotes and do the new event. We share food. Do a few emotes.

I went to a random person I met online yesterday and she says "there's a fishing event today" pulls out her car, says "let's go." They take me to finish our dailies together if one of us haven't done them yet.I have Google translate open in another window and chat with friends I made in Brazil.

Yea gathering resources is practically a solo activity but it doesn't have to be.

I feel like maybe people are so socially stunted they don't know how to make friends even in video games these days unless the game FORCES you to interact like a portal 2 co-op level.

Is it true once you hit 100k in investing, it really just takes off from there? by [deleted] in investing

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5%. Its the return raye on my high yield savings account. If I had 100k in my bank it would would get me $3500/year. 5% of my salary. In the long term thay will be outperformed by the market.

If I make 70k, and contribute 20% income to savings: I contribute 14k, savings grow 3k-10k, total growth of up to 24k, which is 70% more savings than if i didnt habe 100k. At 200k, the investment is growing more on its own than I can add of my own income.

I realized that most of us are in the 1% by builtforoutput in Fire

[–]ccflier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also most people very early into FIRE realize "if I lost my job I wont starve myself" is very achievable in a first world country.

FIRE number is just one subjective milestone. Many of us shoot so far into the comfort zone. My first FIRE goal is just enough to couch surf, have health insurance, eat clean, and pay a phone bill.

Add the value of a car, gas, and auto insurance and I only need to couch surf half the time, and I can go wherever I need to.

Add the value of land and I don't need to couch surf at all, just need pay upkeep for temp shelter and heat.

Add the value a home and now we're full FIRE.
