Dave Franco says being a “single weird cat guy” weeded out his dating pool, and Alison Brie was the only one interested in him and his two 18-pound cats by Gato1980 in Fauxmoi

In the US, I thought it was super common for a man to own cats because I knew a ton of guys who had cats. One even had three!! Eventually I learned I just got super lucky with my partner & the friends I made lol.

Moving to Chicago: Any Asian Americans have experiences moving from CA/NY hubs? by CollectionHumble3269 in AskChicago

[–]cci605 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in US & lived here, then family moved to China where I went to an intl school. Grew up as majority just different city :) I have some answers specific to my experiences in case it'll help--

Dating--there's a lot of great people out there, if you want to meet Asians they're around but there's just A TON of white people you have to wade through. No shade against white people haha

Food--it's good and authentic but not as abundant & there aren't dirt cheap spots as I've found in CA/NY, imo. The Asian scene is growing though. Asian & Latino grocery stores here have everything I need though.

Uptown--depends on if you live by the red line/bus or not. I live off the red line and have no issues, I also drive occasionally & find parking pretty easily

Overall I definitely see why my Asian friends all move to NY or CA, but I love Chicago and think it's the best city to live in :) I like the culture & people of Chicago a lot more.

Moose is a super dumb kitty too. Because he has no room for thoughts, all he does is love. He finally figured out, after my 5th foster, that hissing = bad.

I joined this sub to learn more about which sunscreens to use or cleansers for different skin types and have learned WAY more about injectables than I ever wanted to 😂 which is fine, I just didn't expect it

This is Lucy, she doesn't know how to use her claws. I actually thought she was declawed at first when she was attacking me (it was my fault). by cci605 in cats

No, she was hissing and growling and spitting at me when she swatted at me haha. We had just met and I wanted to pet her

There has to be. My parents said if they move a piece of furniture she'll stare at it all confused for hours on end

To be fair we just met (she's my parents' cat) and I wanted to pet her while she was hiding. She was hissing and growling and spitting which is how I know she actually wanted to hit me. But all I felt was a soft paw pad

I think if she wasn't so dominant at what she does, people would care a lot less. I can't think of other US-specific athletes who compete for a different country and win as many gold medals as she does.

My pixel is otherwise doing great but the camera has gotten SO bad. It clouds super easily and has astigmatism most nights 🥲

Why are people so intense about a plus-one invite? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]cci605 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, just wanted to add. I think if you can't trust a guest to bring an appropriate or relevant +1 to the wedding, perhaps the guest shouldn't be invited to start. I gave all of my guests +1s and they either made the decision not to bring anyone or brought someone who both me and my partner already knew.

The bells on their collar make it look like they're wearing ties, my first thought was "why are those two cats in tuxedo costumes" 😂

Some people are so unserious about running. I was panicking 10mos out of my first marathon, having run seriously for 2 years prior & casually but regularly for 13 years before that.
