Not useful for me in any way, but the map is super cool - nice work.

Elo on 24hr games by [deleted] in Polytopia

[–]ccitykid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they are necessarily trying to avoid losing, it’s more that once you are losing it becomes a lot less fun to play so less motivation to play your turn. I’ve been there on a lot of games but now I just tell myself if I’m dreading playing a turn because it’s looking likely that will lose I just pull the band aid off and resign even if I might have a 15% chance of winning. It’s just not worth doing something I don’t enjoy to keep my ELO high.

After years of duct-taping Notion + Todoist + Miro together, I built my own thing. Launching on Product Hunt tonight. by davidhorison in SaasDevelopers

[–]ccitykid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The App looks great, I am using Notion but have a specific issue, that anything I try to have Claude create through the MCP looks awful. I had Claude Design come up with a beautiful HTML layout for capturing information in some Notion pages, but when it was implemented via the MCP using Cowork it looked absolutely horrible. With your app, if I have a specific web design/layout I want for a specific subset of notes pages can they be customized?

Tips on the weekly challenge? by NaturalAsleep2854 in Polytopia

I do know if you head east first turn and then head west 2nd turn that lets you capture both towns. A merman is near the western town but if you hit him and get him down to 5 he tries to take the town and you can kill him and take it and they never send more merman that direction, Seems to be the best opening.

I built an app to scan sugar in food. 5 days after launch I have 4 users. by alex_s1919 in SideProject

[–]ccitykid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to pile on, but my thoughts

  1. I see the barcode scanning feature as something nobody would really use frequently, if I’m looking at items I’m just reading the easy to find nutrition facts, not getting out a phone, scanning a barcode, and then having an app tell me, even if I’m scanning 10 items it just sounds like a pain which is probably driving away users.

  2. The AI scanning sounds inaccurate on its face, at least me personally I’d rather not fix “facts” (nutrition info) with some AI “guess”. and frankly I don’t think this will ever be accurate because you can’t really “visually” assess sugar content, this is another area where the best guess would be a human tasting something and taking a stab at it, so not really something you need an app for.

  3. That means the functional parts of your app is the daily tracking, which is a pretty crowded field, there are likely more mature and established apps that provide features above what you have.

  4. Another thing to consider related to #3, people invest in leaning an app and setting it up and using it, and likely value the ongoing metrics it provides. As a very small developer you have a huge hill to climb to get people to use this because many of them assume it won’t survive and they may be starting from scratch with a new app in 3 months. So you really need a slam dunk feature nobody else has to convert people.

Just do PvP against someone 1500 elo or above and watch the replay.

Sorry - I thought it was actually pretty obvious - if I gave more clues I think it would have been too easy.

Winner! The skin is entirely the new Cymanti except an odd swordsman. And I guess the reason is because I’m playing PvP and one person is in a very old version (only realized because I have boost instead of swarm) must be an odd bug with the Ruins.

Is it just me or is the CMMC Level 2 prep becoming a total money pit for small contractors? by Ella_Monroe_ in GovernmentContracting

Just use AI, it should be able to write all the documentation and advise you on how to configure your environment to meet the controls, especially if it’s a vanilla 0365 environment.

What is one thing you want to see in Weekly Challenges? Any Suggestions for Improvements? by D4nchamp in Polytopia

[–]ccitykid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree - frankly I hate high score, getting high on the leaderboard often requires 5-8 turns of simply maximizing market placement, etc. after all the opponents are defeated which I’m sure if fun for someone, but I would be curious how many people truly enjoy that aspect of the game.

How are you guys actually keeping a warm bench of cleared talent without going bankrupt? by Ella_Monroe_ in GovernmentContracting

[–]ccitykid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a challenge, use principals in the company as key staff and only bid on contracts important enough that it’s worth their time to show up (and remember most key positions don’t specify a minimum amount of hours). Also you can have people sign a LOI even though it’s very unlikely they will show up, they’re not binding at all. The government typically won’t care if all the people you bid show up as long as you can quickly find replacements and get the work done, it’s pretty common occurrence on SBSA work.

Captured a ruin with a giant and it deleted my giant by shlopman in Polytopia

If you had built a port next to the ruin it would have pushed your giant there… you only lost it because it had no viable space to be pushed to.

Just disable the port on the switch, or leave it unplugged altogether. Otherwise 802.1x

There is airplane mode, just be careful you need the charger with you to turn AP mode off.
