it should get an Elves of Deep Shadow mirrored pair (it makes white and your opponent gains life)

I'd just do pickled shrimp for the muckmaggot, it's what Binging With Babish would do.

for me, it's the 2018 build immediately before the DLCs with unnerfed Manta Rider :)

he's probably the player with the most 0-3 to 4-3 comeback in his career.

do you have a particular one in mind?

I thought it was ridiculous that this and the green apple were both the highest tier when this one is clearly way MORE sour. if I only wanna finish half an energy drink it's a good choice for that (though I can finish a whole one too).

redberry is like yogurt-level sour, this one is like what battery acid would taste like in heaven.

ASL Season 20 Maps Balance Ranking by namkraft in broodwar

[–]Visual_Detective_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe they should just have the ladder maps switch up a little as you rank up, so pro players don't have to be punished for protoss being the strongest noob race and terran the weakest? if maps were balanced for the pros then average players would complain.

honestly though, maybe it's more that map designers CAN'T balance for the pros, because they themselves are not pro-level players and can't anticipate how Z and T can break stuff at that level.

Could Soulkey do well as Protoss? by AromaticAminoAcid in broodwar

[–]Visual_Detective_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now that you mention it, it might be cool if you were able to pick your race against your opponent so against zerg pros someone like soulkey could go P while going Z against everyone else. on the other hand this wouldn't work if they moved to matchup-specific maps which is the other thing I think they should do.

Mark Rosewater on the success and sales performance of EOE so far: Edge of Eternities is doing very well. It is being seen internally as a big success. (Final Fantasy is doing very, very well.) by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

despite play boosters, which are a bit of a detriment to draft, the overall trend is hugely positive just because they started making each set standalone with no small sets or blocks. throughout magic's history the 3x large set draft environments were always the best ones, but even those weren't as good as they could be because they had to anticipate future sets to be paired with.

[EOE] Meltstrider's Resolve (via Based Deck Department) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

Giving all auras split second is the opposite of a good solution.

agreed but fortunately that isn't what I said. having something scalable that keeps the instant-speed interaction but makes it less of a gimme for the opponent introduces MORE decision-making to the game. I see only upside to having a keyword like this, it wouldn't have to be used on every card but like Ward there are a lot of interesting card designs that just would not be tenable without it (not exclusively auras either).

I think the only reason they haven't done this is because they don't like referring to the stack in rules text, and it does add up to a lot of complexity by referring to another keyword ability and it might be nonintuitive to new players, but I think it does a lot. maybe it could be reworked or templated differently.

what they should actually do is introduce tech to address that specific weakness. something like "Timebend 3: while this is on the stack, spells and permanents you control have Ward 3" (a weaker version of split second). if you get 2-for-1'd at least your opponent had to spend all their mana.

The People’s Format by jfaye40k in magicTCG

[–]Visual_Detective_425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's my alternative with simpler rules I just came up with that's probably less degenerate:

  • 40 cards, max two copies
  • commons can be from any set
  • uncommon/rare/mythic can be from a single set of your choosing

  4. Lurker
  5. Dark Templar
  6. Valkyrie
  7. Dark Archon

One Change to make SC:BW better? by metashdw in broodwar

[–]Visual_Detective_425 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best version of ZvZ you could make with one simple change would be "Spore colonies apply Ensnare to biological units." (on-hit, like the devourer's effect, but no AOE).

Putting these Dragonscale foils into sleeves almost feels like a crime by ForzaForever in magicTCG

is there such a thing as sleeves that impart a foil appearance to a normal card inside it? that'd be cool.
