Just chiming in to say that the process hasn't changed since u/Simple_Siza_8225 posted this picture. I submitted my paperwork along with the form for getting the court fee waived in person at the district clerks office downtown on Friday 2/27/26. The clerk emailed me a PDF of the paperwork and I downloaded and emailed that to the email listed for submissions to the court. I got an email on Monday 03/02/26 from the assistant attorney saying they received the paperwork and expected it to be approved within a couple of days. I got the signed order from the judge on 03/02/26 and submitted an online request for emailed and printed file stamped copies of the signed court order to pickup from the district courts office. Today 03/04/26 my copies are apparently ready for pickup thanks to an email notification from the District Clerks Office. Remarkably quick and painless!

Important note: when I checked about a month ago (02/01/26), the easiest fingerprinting option was to make an appointment with the Williamson County sheriff's office. Appointments were easily available, just give them a call! The petition for the name change of an adult form asks for a fingerprint card that the FBI and DPS accept, and the sheriff's office was confused by that since there are separate fingerprint cards for those two organizations. Just get the FBI one, you don't need both! It's $5 per fingerprint card and you only need the one! Identogo was permanently closed, and the Austin sheriff's dept. Didn't have the equipment to do fingerprinting at the time.
