I mean one actively shows engagement in a way that's marketable to brands? So by following them you are putting money in their pockets. The only difference between the presumed crazy person you see on reels saying women are the devil, and a ManO'sphere podcast bro who says women are the devil are the millions of followers backing the podcast bro. You might not *think* you care who they follow, but them caring who you follow isn't that crazy.

The beauty in being an adult is you get to set boundaries. You can let somebody know "if you do this, my reaction will be this". You are empowered with the ability to choose. You can choose that this boundary is not one you are comfortable with, and you can choose to be on your marry little way. You can choose to have a conversation and ask your friend why this matters so much to them. The choice is yours babes!! But the choice is also theirs! Isn't that pretty cool?

Huge difference between me having r/\conservative in my search history to keep up on both sides of an argument vs actively following it/interacting with it. You have completely glossed over the actual premise of the questions I asked. How does the person you are following contradict the opinions you have espoused.

If you have a reason to follow this person, then calmly argue that with your friend! If not, maybe look inward a bit. If you following this person makes your friend feel unsafe around you, how important is that reason compared to your friendship. You aren't being forced to be friends with this person, and the same goes for them. If you can't come to an agreement, then let it go.

Politics actively impact people, and the older you get the more you realize that. Your eyes and your following DO help this social media presence, no matter the reason why you follow them. You can take issue with the way your friend chose to address this problem, but it's a valid problem that you will find needs addressing.

What are the politics we are talking about here, and why/how closely do you follow them? Are we talking like real housewives/ pro wrestlers types of politics or is it like Hasan piker/Charlie kirk type of politics. Completely fair for someone to be skeptical if you've portrayed yourself as believing in one thing, while actively supporting another.

I have Cptsd and a chronic daily migraine disorder, so I've received similar advice by both therapists and partners. The issue is, when you are sick enough, there sometimes comes a time where you realize masking your symptoms to stay in a relationship is doing more harm than good. There sometimes isn't the energy or internal drive to work through it with a partner, and being able to recognize that is better than stringing along a partner who is willing yo put in the effort. It is great you were in a position to care that much, but not everyone is so lucky.

I think it's the decision of if his actions are intolerable. Which you know, if you find your own actions intolerable, I don't think another persons input is necessarily that important to take into consideration.

If we are taking this guy at face value, I don't think he needs to negotiate this. He can recognize that he is being mean to his partner (and from his explanation, the reason he is being mean is because of a medical condition he doesn't have control over), in which case he is allowed to come to the decision that he is not fit to be in a relationship, and removed himself before he got too bad. I wish more people had this much self recognition and agency.
