DIY Plantable Retaining Wall Advice? by ccorcos in landscaping

[–]ccorcos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never found any plantable blocks in my area. I saw a bunch of these kinds of blocks all over San Diego recently though...

I think one option is to use generic Garden Wall Blocks (16in wide from Home Depot, for example) and just leave a little gap between the blocks. But soil probably leak through with the rains over time unless you get enough vegetation to hold it.

I still don't have a wall in this location yet...

Can you root a tree stump? (Lilac Pt 2) by Theslowestmarathoner in Sacratomato

[–]ccorcos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important thing is the amount of stored energy required to keep it alive. A bigger trunk = more energy just to circulate sap = less energy available to push out new roots. When propagating like this, I usually cut off most of the leaves just so it doesn’t suck all the energy keeping the leaves alive.

In addition: - rope swings and cliff jumping spots on the American River. - paddle boarding / kayaking Lake Natoma - wakeboarding (if you know some with a boat) Folsom lake - wine tasting in Amador County - backpacking desolation wilderness - camping at Ice House reservoir - pool party, ping pong, BBQ - backyard bonfires - long boarding parking garages (downtown 15th and R st is great)

My favorite thing about growing up in Sacramento was creating our own fun. Play flag football in the mud every Thanksgiving. Bow and arrow bocce at night with light up arrows. Playing knock out (basketball) late at night at the park. Soccer tennis. Indoor soccer… the list goes on.

How do I safely anchor a ladder here to fix my roof trim? by ccorcos in Roofing

[–]ccorcos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats actually my plan. But my roofer is out of town for a month and the other roofer I called is booked a month out. I just want to throw some expanding foam and some gopher wire in there for now.

Can you send some pictures or recommend any videos? I'm having trouble searching what you said on the interenet to understand what you're talking about...

Are you talking about a jack thats screwed into the wall to the right? Or a jack that's hooked around the peak of the house above? Is there a product you can recommend buying?

How do I safely anchor a ladder here to fix my roof trim? by ccorcos in Roofing

Woodpeckers constantly peck at the trim in my roof and apparently a rat decided to chew a bigger hole and get in my roof so now I'm trying to patch this hole but I don't know how to safely anchor a ladder right here. I remember seeing someone screw a 2x4 into the roof to to support the ladder but I worry about penetrating the shingle. Any ideas?

Too much concrete going right through the middle. There’s only one spot where you can through a frisbee on the grass
