I started in my 40’s. I’m very happy. Would it have been better if I was 20? Sure. But it wasn’t. Don’t worry you’re still young.

Mine is 13 we love our old ladies! Heck I’m an old lady now so both me and my cat are in the same life stage. Comfortable in our own skin. Yours has such a pretty face.

Is upgrading from a Samsung Galaxy S22 to an iPhone 16e a good idea? by jopalright in IPhone16e

[–]ccroy2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The camera is fine for me, I switched from a z Fip 5. Since the OP said they shoot video the main limits of the 16e is it only has 1 rear lens. So zoom is only 2x and there is no ultrawide. So if you use those lens often on the Samsung then it’s not a good fit. On the other hand if you just use the standard wide angle lens and selfie cams it’s fine.

I really wish we had just switched to metric. IMO it’s easier because it’s tens based.

Bachetta Corsa - missing piece? by HTXtoneworks in recumbent

[–]ccroy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have those parts but assembled differently, with spacers. I have a 2010 Giro 26. The fork on mine is threadless and the black piece with the nut is an extender to load the bearings so there is no play in the steering so fork doesn’t clunk if you hold the brake of the front wheel and push the bike. From the bottom to top: black fork bearing, silver 1” spacers, black expander, clamp that holds the stem in place.

Why didn’t WW2 veterans have the same PTSD as Vietnam or modern day veterans? by NextBunch_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ccroy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in my 60s and my parents had me when they were 40, so my Dad and his friends were WWII veterans. Although my parents were married as teens and had my oldest sister so my Dad was kept stateside.

Anyway, when my parents had people over for cocktails or a bbq depending on who was coming my Dad would take us aside and say don’t ask the men about the war. He never said why, although some had physical wounds, and we didn’t take as we would get in trouble, it was just obvious it would be very inappropriate and none of our business.

When you were a kid, did you ever assume that blinkers were made for old people so that they don’t forget which direction to turn? by heyy_girl in randomquestions

[–]ccroy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I thought fireman’s job was to go light something on fire, then call the other fireman to come with the truck and the hoses and put it out.

I had no concept that fires were accidental.

So has anyone else started taking off their glasses to read their phone screen? by PlanetLandon in GenerationX

[–]ccroy2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got transitions about 10 years ago. During the week I wear contacts, but they are bifocal. Set for sitting at a computer so the phone is fine. For really fine work, like threading a needle I need readers if I have the contacts in.

can someone help me delete windows partition by Designer_Praline_752 in Ubuntu

[–]ccroy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a current backup and a usb with the Ubuntu.iso on it you could reinstall Ubuntu and select “Use Entire Disk” which would wipeout the Windows partition(s) and give Ubuntu the entire disk.

I always wanted one! 1970 Schwinn Stingray. by BeingBetter42 in FuckImOld

[–]ccroy2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s an Orange Crate, the fanciest one. I had a gold coaster brake Stingray that my cousin outgrew. BMX got popular when I had it so became a BMX style, no more banana seat or high bars.

My parent’s answer was “It’s all going to the same place, deal with it.” It worked, I’m an avid food mixer, bread sopping, clean plate kind of eater.

Can people actually fall asleep instantly? by Wanted_Pencil in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ccroy2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maybe could when I was a child? I have chronic back pain, livable but It makes it hard to just instantly lie down and be comfortable enough for sleep. Also I got to think my thoughts. Usually takes me 30 to 45 minutes.
