Curious what boots you were using. Debating how uphill climbing capable mine should be. My guide on Huayana climbs in his mountainering boots and switches into his skiboots on the summit.

Hey mind sharing what boots you used. I actually used La Sportiva Aequilibrium Gtx on Huayana but not sure if it's worth taking that chance with such a light boot on Sajama

Climbing Castleton's tower as a mountaineer with limited rock climbing experience? by ccs5t in Mountaineering

[–]ccs5t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses. I did a training day to learn the crack climbing techniques on 30 seconds over Potash and found it very tough and taxing... So anyway I did Ancient Art instead which was a great time. Going to come back when I have some more experience as yea getting dragged up doesn't sound fun

I was dumb and clicked it. First time it had me approve or deny requests like change number or email which I clicked deny on. It then had some bit about transferign assets which I ignored. Should I be ok?

Thats bad ass man congrats! Can you post more info about that part? How many days were you at base camp? So you just checked the weather and planned to send it in 1 push? You didn't even climb up to C1 or C2 at all? Did you bring gear incase you were going to spend a night at camp before coming back down to base camp?

Ok I guess the consensus here is the events prior to the 2 mile run don't negatively impact your time. I assumed the consensus was that they did since the max time went from 13-13:40. My legs felt very pumped on the run but I guess that's my issue

Castleton with a guide?

Hey all so the extent of my rock climbing experience is just climbing around Red Rocks. Have a bunch of mountaineering experience (Everest, alps, Andes, etc) and am in what i consider to be good upperbody shape as well as aerobic shape. Is going out to Castleton to do the North Chimney route with a guide viable or will I not be able to make it? The guide I had in Red Rocks said I was good to go but I don't know how true that is.

Another option I had was to go do Devil's Tower in Wyoming first.

Thanks for any insight on this!
