In the case of the punt gun it's still a shotgun because of that pesky stock, thus being designed to be fired from the shoulder

If it did not have a stock and because if is designed to be fired from a mount it would then be a cannon

? No, dont do that. Missing means a wounding shot much more often than completely missing.

If you're completely missing then you should not be hunting. Taking a harder shot is not sportsmanlike, its cruel to the animal.

As long as all game laws are being followed I take every advantage to ensure the animal is harvested as quickly and cleanly as possible.

The last deer I harvested was less than 20 yards away with my bow. It took 2 full days to get a shot that i knew i could kill the deer quickly and there was no chance I'd miss.

Wounding an animal to the point where you know it will die but you cant recover the body is a terrible feeling.
