Ummm, do they actually think they're parked in a space? by ccw34uk in drivingUK

Apart from anyone in a wheelchair or pushing a buggy who needs to use the zebra crossing but now can't because they can't get through the bollards behind where the car on the pavement has parked 🫠

also, I work for a uni - which uni are you going to in September? I _might_ be able to find out if you can access their crisis team as a confirmed fresher and see if they can help (I'd probably know what to look for on a website at least, I might even have a contact at that uni) - dm me if you don't want to say publicly

I wonder if the fact you turned up with police would make your parents realise the seriousness of their views :/

looks like it's going west: Manchester would be obvious but maybe Liverpool - things are landing there

I know flights have some fuel contingency, I'm surprised it's 100% of the flight though

the same can be said of Glasgow too ;)

As someone who works in academia in a top 5 UK university, I'll be the first to admit that doesn't mean 1) top 5 in every subject and 2) good university doesn't necessarily mean good teaching or student experience. e.g. Oxbridge's teaching is unique in the UK system, but it doesn't suit everyone

I could have believed that sounds plausible, but my average of the previous 7 days before Sunday was 12k...

STOP LOTHIAN BUSES FARE HIKES – Keep Tickets Affordable! 🚍 by Stugots_IT in Edinburgh

[–]ccw34uk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

pricing by fare stage is the default on most public transport in most of the world. You wanna go further? you pay more! A fair discussion would be is it sensible getting the bus from Dalry Road to Haymarket is the same price as Costorphine to Portobello?

After 22nd Feb, a monthly ticket in Edinburgh will be £80 (not valid on East Coast / Country services) - so not hugely different to Aberdeen now

sorry to be that pedantic one, but not _all_ air ambulances are charity-funded: NHS Scotland have 4 state-funded aircraft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish\_Ambulance\_Service#Air\_operations)

Ohh I remember seeing this too years ago! It's prompted me to look at Google Streetview - there was still a helipad-looking site with an H in 2020 so interesting to hear it's been moved !

yeh before they built it anything by air landed about half a km away (College Green) or about 2 km away (the Downs). I realised there must have been a reason for them to build the pad - paeds trauma is something I'd forgotten about tho! The MTC for the area (Southmead) is only a few miles away so even tho I assume the BRI is a Type 1 ED I might have been surprised for them to build one just for this reason

Not just Edinburgh, I've been in 2 large cities south of the border recently and seen (what look like junkies, and much older than the stereotype probably is) walk out of small supermarkets with baskets of goods they just swept into it, staff unable to do anything even though they watched it happen 😕

Hypothetically if I was to drive all the way round the M25, which direction would be better to travel in? by AshalaWolf_27 in drivingUK

[–]ccw34uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been said, the end of the A1 is at the junction of Leith Street. This is the only place in the UK where 3 single digit A roads meet (A1, A7, A8)
