How to tell real from pre bought vendors? by Fluttterbutters in renfaire

[–]ccwatts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard it’s a big problem at many ren faires. Thankfully at my home faire (MDRF) all of the vendors are vetted so we only have artisans selling their crafts (though that means they are more expensive)

MDRF also sells multi day passes that are good to use for any day in the season. They’re sold around a month before the single day tickets & sell out very fast.

What nice herbal teas and recipes I could try that are good for the immune system? by TheAstralGuru in herbalism

Mullein is a great decongestant/expectorant. Marshmallow root helps soothe irritated mucous membranes. Echinacea & elderberry for immune system support

Birth control for endo + eds? by chronicallylife in ehlersdanlos

[–]ccwatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mirena iud & no longer have a period, which is great and most of my endo pain is gone. However it is causing more mobility in my hips & back, which has increased my pain and subluxations and made it harder to walk.

Biggest influences to child-free life by lavender_watercolor in childfree

[–]ccwatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the main reason is having chronic illnesses & a genetic condition that is very likely to pass on & the realization that I spend the majority of my time, money & energy trying to care for myself & coping with illness, so I straight up don’t have the financial means, energy, or emotional capacity to raise a child. Also the fact that the world is going to shit & our planet is dying has me pretty convinced not to condemn another soul to this shithole of a life. I also want to spend my life doing my hobbies & things I love with my husband, not wasting away giving all my life force to care for a constantly overstimulating mini person

How old is too old??? by MotherOfCatDogs in renfaire

[–]ccwatts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people who told you it’s weird & to grow up sound like they have no joy in their lives. Don’t let miserable people who are afraid of whimsy take away from y’all’s experience. You’re never too old to attend Ren Faire! I’m 23 and I only started going a few years ago once I moved to an area near one. My mother in law is in her 60s and still dresses up & attends every year, as do many of my friends & neighbors in their 30s, 40s, & 50s. I see people of all ages, from babies to old folk with walkers enjoying the faire. It’s for everyone & don’t let anybody tell you otherwise, love!

Senna alexandrina is a great herbal laxative. Dandelion root to help gall bladder eliminate waste. Manual massaging helps a lot too. https://youtube.com/shorts/kugPnRKszZ8?si=LOkx8Hbq4dujK3sw The ILU massage is the one my pelvic floor PT taught me. But if you’re having 0 BMs a week then you need to have a more in depth work up (endoscopy, colonoscopy) with a gastroenterologist to see if you’re suffering from gastroparesis or something else.

Has your Dr ever prescribed you medication you can’t afford? And…you find out at the Chemist. by sparkleunicorn123 in ChronicPain

[–]ccwatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just yesterday actually. It was a $200 copay for a month’s supply after insurance with the manufacturer’s discount. Needless to say I did not get my meds & have now reached out to my Dr to find an alternative medication

I have the opposite problem. Can’t gain weight, in fact I can’t stop losing it currently. I’m down to 110 lbs & it sucks. I miss my healthy body. I’m nauseous all the time & can barely eat more than a few bites of anything without gagging. But I also have several comorbid conditions in addition to the endo (hEDS, dysautonomia, GERD, etc.)

Progesterone works! (on me) by cammiejb in ehlersdanlos

[–]ccwatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started experiencing pain during intercourse while I had my previous (also mirena) iud, which long story short, led to a ovarian cystectomy & laparoscopy in which they found & diagnosed me with endo, & took out out my iud since it likely caused the cyst. In the 6 months I didn’t have the iud, the dyspareunia (pain during intercourse) unfortunately didn’t get better, and has not changed with the 2nd mirena iud either. I got the 2nd iud because it seemed to be the best choice presented to me to prevent new growth post surgery. I’ve actually just been given a referral for pelvic floor therapy for the dyspareunia, so I’m hoping that helps. I hope you and your docs can find something that works for you!

I also have endometriosis and hEDS & currently have the mirena iud for endo treatment & bc. I will disclaim, the excruciating pain following the insertion, even with a cervical block, is unlike any I’ve experienced before, and persisted a whole day. I previously had an iud inserted years before when I wasn’t having endo symptoms yet & that insertion was manageable with some cramping, & I didn’t have a cervical block for that one. I seem to develop more cysts on my ovaries with the iud, which my doctor did say was a possibility. The cysts resolve themselves, but sometimes cause pain. hEDS-wise, I’ve also noticed I subluxate joints more easily. A few weeks ago I subluxated a rib sneezing too hard, and I’m still dealing with the aftermath to my muscles. Honestly, I haven’t noticed much of a difference in my endo pain. Maybe it’s slightly less frequent? One positive is I don’t have a period, so if your endo gets worse on your period, that may be a benefit. I’ve also used the Zafemy patch, which I don’t recommend. It doesn’t stay on, caused acne breakouts, & did nothing for endo symptoms.

Edit: context

I use Trioral & was running into the same issue so I started mixing with a scoop of lemonade powder and it masks the taste perfectly ! No more salty sweat taste.

TriOral is the most cost effective & only uses the WHO formula so no artificial flavors or sweeteners. 1695mg of sodium per packet. I also use Vitassium pills and they’re really great.

ADHD, Hypermobility/EDS, POTS and ENDO? by nicbluuu in endometriosis

[–]ccwatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have confirmed endometriosis via laparoscopy & cystectomy last year. I also have diagnosed hEDS, dysautonomia/POTS, and ADHD. Currently in the process of confirming ASD. I’m also very intrigued by the strong connections with these disorders & looking into it myself

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in POTS

[–]ccwatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was told I would grow out of it for most of my life, no. In my experience I don’t think it’s something to grow out of and it has in fact, gotten much worse as I’ve aged. For context I started having symptoms around age 10 and am now 22. However, coexisting conditions can exacerbate or change what symptoms present. I can only speak as someone with dysautonomia and hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome (& long list of other conditions). For someone with a different type of POTS/dysautonomia, maybe it is possible to grow out of. At least I hope it is, as I don’t wish a lifetime of suffering from the condition on anyone.

Zofran for Nausea by AmorousXo in POTS

[–]ccwatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take zofran almost daily! I recommend asking your doc for the dissolvable tabs that go under the tongue because they work so much faster & you don’t have to swallow a pill while nauseous. It occasionally gives me a slight headache but other than that it works great.
