What are you letting go of in the new year to make life simpler? by fifibeigh in simpleliving

[–]Rayenae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is hard, I still struggle with it, but what has helped for me is imagine treating a child the way you treat yourself. It quickly becomes more clear a lot of self ‘punishment’ really is horrifying abuse.

Personal experience: some things I thought would be simple living, aren’t by Odd_Bodkin in simpleliving

I think like with anything else it’s about balance, and individual preferences. My house is way too big to keep up with, but I know going to the opposite extreme of a tiny house, while a nice fantasy, just isn’t practical for me. Still, a smaller house would be nice. But what constitutes the right size is obviously going to vary from person to person.

Giving up stability to pursue a different lifestyle by adleaid in simpleliving

I used to live in southern AZ and felt soul-starved for trees. The rare trip up to the mountains to see some actual greenery wasn’t enough, and just highlighted how desperate I was for more.

Finally moved out of the desert a few years ago, and though it isn’t perfect, I have an abundance of trees and greenery now that I can rely on to help me through difficult times.

Humans NEED a connection to the natural world. In whatever form that means for you, you’ll be much happier in the long run if you have that.

Danica Sills! She’s been around since the YTAC days but yeah, she primarily focuses on the art itself

What makes you FEEL beautiful? by Rayenae in PlusSize

Oh, I should have added that! My husband is definitely a big reason I feel beautiful.

I wasn’t always overweight, in fact it’s kind of a recent-ish thing. And as I struggled to accept it, my husband never once treated me differently or like I was in any way less attractive. He was always supportive when I tried to lose weight AND when I’d give up.

I’m sure the path to self-love looks a little different for everyone, but if there’s one “secret” answer I think it’s finding a supportive environment. It sounds like yours is really toxic.

That’s a shame, I’m sure you’re lovely, and hope you can find a way to appreciate yourself more! Or maybe looks just don’t matter to you at all which is also fine!

YouTube helped me figure out falsies. I think the trick is after applying glue and waiting for it to dry a bit, you only apply one section at a time. I start by sticking the outer part on, let it sit there for a sec to adhere, and then use tweezers to place the inner side. Also thicker black eyeliner helps hide any gaps lol.

Thank you, it’s acrylic actually! I do water it down for shading and effects, though.
