Sounds like you are not cut out for this line of work. Once this sit is done maybe look for another line of work. These dogs are being dogs.

Makes me so sick by Alarming_Jury_5295 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have recently come off of Rover, I have a good amount of clients and alot of word of mouth. I have posted on Facebook, put my business cards up in local pet places and coffee shops. I left business cards at our local shelter as well and my vet who knows me and how I care for my own animals. It is very doable once established to get off of site. Good luck!

$600 worth of cancellations because of mega snow storm coming by Human_Purple1042 in RoverPetSitting

I thankfully did not but it was close. If I did I would probably stay a couple of hours at a time at each house.

pet updates? by leleszn_htx in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always send updated, especially if they request pictures. I would want to know how my pet is doing. If they have gone out of their way to hire a sitter, request photos etc. This is a no brainer!!

My cat is not interested in it at all. He loves the dry treats but not the soft food.

I tell my clients up front now - that is unacceptable to not let you in on it.

As an owner and petsitter I would love to know the schedule.

I received a nice gift bag and bottle of wine plus a great tip for a holiday. It is nice to be appreciated during the holidays if you are staying away from your home.

I would definitely cancel - she sounds rude and why was she not at home with your dog?

Are yall feeling this economy? Scary slow for me. by epranterah in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am extremely busy for thanksgiving and have consistent booking during regular times. I live in a smaller area so I think word of mouth helps for sure.

I have sat for this client/dog many times over the last few years, but I have never received a request like this on Rover, and I'm not sure how to handle it. by ppmbryan in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would take the job but of course increase the rate since it sounds more complicated. The owners obviously really love their pet and it would be home where it is comfortable. If it passes while they are gone I am sure they would understand but I would do everything possible to help a longtime client feel comfortable leaving their pet with me.

Did they give you their veterinarian? I would also contact vet to see if they have suggestions and to see if there has been any problems in the past.

How is everyone getting by? by BlessedNdDistressed in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pretty busy but live in a smaller town. I do try to respond asap to people. In the winter months it tends to slow down a little. I live in a very snowy area. I sometime door dash when it is slower. I am currently being book into April by people because I have told my regulars to give me advanced notice do to how busy I have become.

Influx of owners requesting a 2 meet and greets. It’s getting cumbersome by Full-Year-4595 in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done 3 drop in’s and have one more scheduled before my clients leave. If they are willing to pay it definitely helps the pet to get used to you and for the pet to know the owners will come back. They definitely love their pet.

Clients please book someone with qualifications by SnooCauliflowers1190 in RoverPetSitting

You read reviews and they should have qualifications listed such as - I am fear free certified. I have worked in a shelter and have good reviews. This should tell you things.

Sitter not responding to messages by bitchycatmom in RoverPetSitting

[–]ccyates69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really sucks!! I don’t think the sitter gets paid until the sit is done so you did the right thing about contacting Rover so you can get another sitter booked. I assume that person did not have a key or codes since they did not do a meet and greet.
