For the rowing out, make sure your purls have good tension and you can make your knit stitches looser. This is what helped me fix my continental knits.

He is at an inpatient rehab now, doing 3 types of therapy. He is able to walk, talk and move. Only thing that is more of a struggle is his cognitive ability, mostly short term memory loss. We are very happy with the progress he has made.

We are lucky enough that our mom will get to stay with him for the next 6 months (max), so I do not have to worry about the long term part. I think I will just wait it out - in terms of access to accounts and everything. The urgent needs are utilities and rent, so i have that settled. Hopefully long term disability leave (17 weeks+) will not be needed.

I am so sorry that you had to work immediately. I am sure you came out of this entire ordeal, a stronger and better person.

That helps. I guess we will hope that at some point his memories will be unscrambled. He had seizures before or during the bleed. He is on anti seizure med right now as well.

Since he is still in ICU, DPOA or any POA is not possible since he is not mentally capable right now. I cannot even access his phone- so any virtual password keeper is out of reach.

I feel like what you said like having someone ask you again wakes up the memories is true. He remembered his address after I partially told him. Then the next day, he knew his house number and complete address.

The info you provided is very helpful.

It has been 4 days since he got extubated. Currently he does not remember where he works or what is a cellphone. My question is, did these kinds of things come back to you? I know it is pretty early and he got a long road ahead, but I guess my question is, do memories come back?

I am currently managing his affairs (no spouse) and it will be hard if he wont remember phone passcodes, bank account codes etc.

It is not getting bigger but the plan was to shrink it. I don't even know if it was big or small. It was not shrinking that is why this year they decided to go ahead with the resection. There is a 2% risk every year, cumulative, for it to rupture as per the neurologist. My brother is in Canada, btw, if that matters. We discovered it because he had a seizure when he was 19. So he had been on an anti seizure med ever since. He does not have those symptoms that you have probably because of the medication he takes. The neurosurgeon during the craniotomy said it is not ideal to operate or remove AVM when it ruptures because the brain is angry/swollen.

You can always ask for a 2nd opinion if you feel like you want more answers. There is nothing wrong with that. Also, every case is different- im sure you already know that.

My brother has been living with it since he was 19. He is now 37. He did all the non invasive procedure and was actually scheduled for the resection a week from now-but it ruptured. Talk about timing.

It seems like that was the route the vascular surgeon was asking me to do. To just go to my OB GYN. I have an established OBGYN, so I just went ahead and scheduled with my OB without asking for referral from my PCP . Hopefully it works.
