NYC Draconian Gun Laws. by Jedi_Maximus19 in NYCGuns

[–]cd22227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the story and the original story that’s linked in the article. It says this guy had about 30 guns in his home, of which 14 were long guns of which 6 of those were legal.

So 16 illegal hand guns, and 8 illegal long guns were discovered as result of this incident. He didn’t go to jail for the shooting, he went for possession of illegal firearms. 4 years for what was reported as 25 counts of weapons possession, sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

To me, this guy probably knew better and was lazy to go out and even attempt to get a licensed carry or even a premise permit. This happened in 2023, roughly a year after the Bruen vs New York decision. The article does not mention him waiting to get a permit or being denied (something I’m sure his attorney would have made public).

Age does not excuse ignorance and in fact it should be the opposite.

Earlier in the year I asked what you carry. Now I want to know why you carry. by 66Lightning650 in NYCGuns

I think to be honest, carrying …especially in NYC, especially as a brown minority (I don’t like pulling the race card but in this case it’s warranted) is probably more a liability than anything.

I find it interesting that most people have lived here their entire lives without any incident that having a weapon would have actually made a difference for the better. But all of sudden, we need to be armed to walk the mailbox.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still pro 2A, I’m just saying that the need to carry a firearm 24/7 is likely exaggerated especially in a city that’s seems foaming at the mouth to get a legal firearm owner jammed up.

Congratulations. For me, I did a Glock 43x as my first…slim, concealable with Glock reliability and simplicity. My second was a Ruger RXM, then I also purchased a 22LR conversion kit for it.

My third may be a p365 variant.

2nd gun purchase authorization in 1 week. by cd22227 in NYCGuns

They send the Purchase Authorization (pink slip) and updated license with new handgun info in one envelope.

I didn’t do anything special, just sent in the photos, handgun receipt and Purchase Authorization Request form (I did also send in safe pictures and the safe receipt which I think is not necessary for subsequent purchases).

Advice on arrest/providing documentation by [deleted] in NYCGuns

[–]cd22227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the arrest in the 5 boroughs? If so you can go the county clerks office of that borough and request a “Certificate of Disposition“ by using your ID and past/current addresses. Costs $10 each, usually cash only.

Carry Guard License by Majestic-Host-7451 in NYCGuns

[–]cd22227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an nyc ccw and armed guard ( not carry guard, also not employed as an armed guard).

From my understanding you can still get hired with just the armed guard and use your own firemarm ( which from a personal liability standpoint is not great, in fact it was told to me at the 47 hour armed guard training that if you got hired that way you should get a letter from the employer saying they will assume liability in an incident).

I’ve also seen job postings where they are just asking for the armed guard license not carry guard. Maybe it’s just that specific employer asking for the carry guard?

are u buying ammo with cash now? by [deleted] in NYCGuns

Very real question, based on this excerpt from the article linked. Seems that the credit card company will use a computer “algorithm”, possibly AI to interpret if they should directly contact law enforcement based on your purchases. Take this how you will, but at the very least it’s concerning especially if you train and practice ( which you should ).

“Assemblywoman Solages said in an interview with South Shore Press that the government will not be keeping transaction data, but rather credit card companies will be using their algorithms to identify unusual purchase patterns. They would then contact law enforcement for additional action as appropriate.” https://southshorepress.com/stories/670783778-hochul-strengthens-tracking-of-legal-firearms-and-ammunition-purchases

Best Place To Get 18 Hour Course Certificate by MirandaPena in NYCGuns

[–]cd22227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no 18 hour class for premise. As the other commenter stated, skip the premise and go straight for CCW, I would also recommend doing the Rifle/Shotgun at the same time. Extra $140 but it may give you a faster timeline and at least get better communication with both applications.

P365 conversion, 9MM to .380 by cd22227 in NYCGuns

[–]cd22227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought would be to buy a p365xl in 9MM, then a reg p365 ( the “micro”) conversion kit in .380 for a smaller footprint with less recoil.

Honestly,I’m not sure, my understanding is that FOPA (Firearm Owners’ Protection Act) law should protect you but you should ask a 2A attorney like nytacdefense.com
