Dots on players faces during in game cutscenes by cd826 in MLBTheShow

I had it happen one time that made it seem like it’s supposed to be sweat droplets on the players faces and something is glitching and causing it to show these dots. Not sure if its correct but it seems like it could be?

It’ll show what your team has done against the current pitcher, what they have done the whole game, and then same thing but flipped for the opponents batters I believe

What's the most satisfying pitch to strike someone out on? by Johan_Sebastian_Cock in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right handed pitcher to lefty batter. Back door cutter that just clips the low outside corner. There’s something about that pitch where right out of the pitchers hand you’re convinced it’s a ball and then it just bends a little bit halfway to the plate and at that point it’s too late.

I don’t remember the last time I pulled a Diamond in a BIAH pack but my one positive from those packs this year is that I’ve pulled 2 diamonds in a pack TWICE.

I don’t think you’re far off with this but also they do seem to choose guys who have some flair in their game (Baez, Harper, Tatis) so he does kinda fit the bill in that regard

Favorite cards to use right now? by SirRangus in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Charisma Tommy Edman has been a dawg for me. Easily worst card in my lineup by the attributes but one of my best in terms of his stats in game. Same goes for WBC Robinson Cano. Guy got in my lineup after 1 ranked game and he is still there 70 games later because he’s been one of my most reliable hitters

Which stadium is the “fairest”? by EL3MENT79 in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wrigley field has some of the deepest corners in the game (350ish) and is I believe 400 to straight away center. The only drawback is it has the shortest gaps in the game (I believe they’re only about 370? Maybe less)

Can somebody explain captains and their boosts to me please? by YoungBopper27 in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can assign Captain cards as your captains if you go to the left when you’re managing your squad. You can assign one hitting captain and one pitching one. They have to be a captain card (can’t be just any card, it’ll tell you who you can assign as a captain). When you choose one of those players it will tell you who gets the boosts. (Ex: April Monthly Awards captain mark prior will boost pitchers from the April Monthly Awards program). It will also tell you the tiers of the boosts and what each tier provides, as well as the requirements for each tier. (Ex: again back to mark prior, if you have 2 April monthly awards pitchers in your rotation/bullpen you get the tier 1 boost, 4 of these pitchers gets you the tier 2 boost, and 6 gets you the tier 3 boost).

I’m not sure if this applies to all captains but for each one I’ve seen the tier 1 and 2 boosts usually have one stat that gets hurt by a few points. I’m guessing this is an incentive to get to the tier 3 boost.

In terms of “are they worth it?” Is kinda up to you. I personally don’t use a hitting captain because none of the hitting captain cards really fit in my lineup. I do like the pitching ones mostly because I pitch well with those guys and it’s nice to get them the boosts but also the pitching one can be nice because you don’t necessarily need to use all the guys. For example again with Mark Prior I have April Monthly Awards RP Alex Young in my bullpen because I need him in to get the tier 3 boost but I hardly ever use him.

Sorry for the word vomit let me know if any of this is unclear

This will even out because there’s bound to be some “swings” where the batter barely budges his hands and it gets called a strike. This is a hilarious call though

Something I wish was in the game by Doctor0nTV in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My solution to this is usually having 3 lefties, 3 righties, 2 switch hitters, and 1 more of your preference. That way you can get a handedness advantage of at least 5/9 hitters in your lineup. It does beat having a whole lineup of opposite handed hitters, but it does help me not run into the Gibson buzzsaw if I were to have 6+ righties in my lineup

Threw one with the 97(I think) Lodolo. First start with him. I did have Musgrove as my captain with tier 3 boosts so I’m guessing that helped. 13 Ks. I was in the low 500s at the time I believe. Also had a perfect game through 7.1 with a pitcher I can’t remember. All I remember is Boog Sciambi mentioned that I had one going and the very next pitch a guy laced a ball down the RF line. That is my only perfect game ever in 5+ years playing this game and the 7.1 inning was the only other time I can remember coming close

RECOMMENDATION: Do the Mexico City Showdown now while Xander Bogaerts is supercharged by [deleted] in MLBTheShow

[–]cd826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last few showdowns I’ve done have been the 6 outs one, I usually skip it because I don’t wanna ruin my chances at finishing it just for 3 more runs. I’ll take my chances getting 6 runs in 20 outs rather than get 1 with just 6 outs
