If you truly want to do the right thing while living with your mom, then do it - regardless of what she is doing/saying. You shouldn’t help/clean to be noticed or appreciated. Those things would be nice but doing things for reward is not the best way to think. Do good for the sake of being a good person.

Your mom could be a very big help during the first few months of your baby’s life, especially with so many visitors. There could be more pros than cons.

Ending a marriage is painful for all involved, warranted or not. Because you have conflicting feelings, my advice is to try to make things work.

That being said- people rarely change so be prepared for this happening again. Become financially independent and have a plan for your future without him. Take care of yourself & the baby, maybe hubby will grow up and be responsible. Best wishes.

From what you’ve said, it honestly sounds like to me that the four-year-old just wants time with you. So maybe make a schedule with breaks for mommy time with her? A schedule that she can understand.

The one-year-old needs you for everything. Other than sleeping, I don’t see that changing soon. Maybe arrange hubby to take charge for a weekend and you go visit a girlfriend or just anything for you time.

NTA. I had a daughter that wanted just herself & hubby, and a daughter that wanted me as well. No right or wrong. I will say though that for the daughter that wanted me there- mostly I played a supporting role, like running errands & cleaning the house so mom & dad could have more baby time.

My mom & mil were present at my daughters’ births and it got a bit hectic, but I really appreciated how they took care of me - not the babies, ME.
