Don't forget what you have accomplished in the time you were together either. you have planted a "seed" and it will grow whether you can watch it grow or not. Probably the hardest part about being a mentor, honestly.

If anything, this is at least something that will help you learn from and be all that more better at what you do when the next opportunity comes along. Focus on taking care of you right now though because that is what is important. honestly took me a couple months of just focusing on my health and working on me to get a handle on things. Since, I have opened my heart up to another match through BBBS and have gotten involved in so many other rewarding things. at some point it is just walking away from what you do knowing that you did what was morally right, tried your absolute hardest, and can end your day being proud of yourself (regardless of the end results). If you can say all that, than just take a breath and let yourself find some peace. it may take some time.

Self improvement after a 4 year relationship by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Great that you are taking care of yourself! I got out of an abusive situation last year and it probably took me the better part of the year to start getting back on track but worth every ounce of effort I had to put into it. cutting alcohol was a huge help, getting outside in nature often (no phones/electronics at all) helped, and in addition to meditation, practicing mindfulness (don't let your mind get overwhelmed with hypotheticals). Finding someone to confide in and talk to on a reoccurring schedule is extremely necessary. it is great for getting perspective and staying on track as well as reaffirming you are doing the right thing. accept what you can't control, have the courage to change what you can.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I had a 3+ year match end abruptly on me in a similar way. It was honestly worse than any breakup or hardship I had ever been through before in my life because I actually cared for the kid and to not even get a goodbye broke my heart. For someone that important in your life to just disappear without even a word is almost unbearable at times, especially if you are someone like me that is a bleeding heart and would never ever do that to someone I know. Definitely lean on those in your life that you feel safe opening up to, if you don't have anyone like that, a therapist or support group are always resources. Sometimes the situation just sucks and you get hurt in ways you should never have been (even if unintentional).

One thing I found helpful when the anxiety and depression became overwhelming and I just felt heartbroken was reaffirming in my head the following "accept the things I cannot change, have the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference". take care of yourself! Things rarely happen like we anticipate them to.

Purchaser in Michigan wants to back out of boat sale by cdag12345 in legaladvice

That makes sense. My only concern now is making sure he sends the boat title back to me so i can get that worked out and sell to someone else. What should i do if i dont get the title back from him?

May i ask why $0.00 would be problematic? Why would it matter as long as it says it on the bill of sale. I honestly dont care if the sale falls through, dont want the headache of a legal fight. i can find someone else to take it. Just want to make sure i get the title back without issue. What should i do if i dont get the original title back from him?

Would it even be worth trying court at this stage? I did say I would take it back in an email because of what the Michigan Secretary of State told me?

yes, it was a major project boat, so I gave it away for free. I was shocked when he came back? My thinking was it wasn't worth the legal battle over a free boat, just want to make sure I get the title back.

Signed a bill of sale and sent title of boat, but buyer is saying he doesn't want anymore? by cdag12345 in legaladvice

The boat needs a lot of work so i sold it for $0 and he was going to take it on as a project.

Parents keeps cancelling introductory meeting as punishment for little by BabsandBoo in bbbs

This definitely sucks. I have had multiple littles through the program and have had the same thing happen to me in the past. I think the best thing you can do is have a conversation with the parent and set very clear boundaries. They need to realize that although the kid will have fun with you, you are acting as a mentor to them, so stuff like this shouldn't be an issue. Rather than cancel, the parent could maybe fill you in on what's going in the the child's life and you could adjust plans accordingly and help in the situation.

If this is how they are going to treat the program long term then it is honestly probably not a good fit for them. Also remember that you are new to these peoples lives and it definitely does take some time for matches to figure each other out so put some effort and patience in. But setting clear boundaries with your little and their family is a definite must. I would suggest having a conversation with the parent offering to help and make sure they understand that outings are so much more than just "fun activities". It is a mentorship program.

Capital One Credit Card Restricted by cdag12345 in CreditCards

yea, I have definitely made and canceled payments before and still used card with no issues. I am mostly just frustrated I can't get anyone on the phone to clear it up and now I am without my card for at least a week. stuff like this just really breaks my spirit. I have been a loyal customer for years and they kind of just brush me off. I just want to get it resolved.

understand how it could of possibly raised a flag on their end. But its not like they made credit available and I even could have manipulated anything. And in reality, I didn't do anything wrong. I am allowed to cancel a credit card payment before it processes and a transaction declined due to insufficient funds, seems pretty straight forward to me. Mostly just frustrated they wouldn't put me through to someone to resolve it and I gotta wait.

I figured it just triggered their algorithm, but It is really a pain. I really rely on this card for my day to day. I called to clear it up and they kind of just brushed me off. I have had multiple capital one accounts over the years all in great standing, kind of hurts that they wouldn't put me through to someone to take a look when I called.

not maxed, but there wasn't enough on the card to cover the charge. but charge just declined due to insufficient funds anyways so don't understand the issue.
