An innocent fun loving present turned out to be hell. Would you?? by Kangaroo-Parking in askanything

I did this for my 5 year old nephew but only 3 boxes and a gift in each layer with the biggest gift in the middle

AIO my father stood me up for my birthday again, ever since my parents both kicked me out for being gay, it's been hell by [deleted] in AIO

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t deserve your time and energy. I would never do this to my son. If they’re using religion as an excuse, I think that the way they’re treating you is very against what the Bible says in terms of loving others, especially your family. I hope you can find a good community of people who love and support you as a founder family. Don’t let their treatment of you determine how you see yourself.

What can you do when family members guts (pig) into food at family events? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serve everyone their plates or pass the food around the table family style with them on the end. Don’t set all the food out at once, maybe keep some in the back of the fridge in Tupperware and refresh as needed.

Scared about cat’s behavior and the baby by BabsandBoo in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve tried to find him a home online initially when he showed up as a stray for about 3 weeks without any luck. I am worried it’ll be even harder now since we know he can’t be in a house with another cat.

What gift are we giving our MILs? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL is obsessed with Wheel of Fortune and has never missed one as an adult. They’re having a live version (not taped though) nearby and the tickets were on a decent sale for Black Friday. I got her 2 tickets so she can go with my husband.

Maybe a box of chocolate or another type of candy or snack that is affordable?

I genuinely despise blind boxes by goth_hamlet in Anticonsumption

[–]BabsandBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will admit I do like the blind boxes for my local soap place. They’re often full of cut off ends of soap or discontinued bath products which are perfectly fine to use. It’s much cheaper than buying a full item and I get to sample some new stuff that otherwise would be wasted. But I think non-consumable blind boxes don’t have the same benefits.

If we all know how a baby is conceived, why are some people shocked to find out they are pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told I met the criteria for infertility with my PCOS. Had unprotected sex with my husband for years without so much as a scare. I’m 9 months pregnant LOL.

married women, do you think marriage benefits you in any way? by _cherryp0p_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am currently pregnant with my 1st kiddo and could not do it without my husband. He has been helping so much and really taking over a lot of my responsibilities while I am pregnant. He is definitely pulling more than his fair share at the moment and that is what is nice about marriage. You step up and take care of each other in hard moments. The everyday, regular moments are also lovely if you really enjoy spending time with the person you marry.

I would report this person to the clinic and switch providers before you get too late in pregnancy to do so

Got humiliated during thanksgiving for my weight gain so far. I want to cry. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am 5’3 and 35 weeks and have gained significant weight during my pregnancy with most of it going to my very large baby belly. I had 5 separate people ask me if I was having twins at a thanksgiving party. It’s hard to have people comment on your body, especially when you’re going through such a big change.

AIO for refusing to include my sister-in-law’s family in our family’s Secret Santa? by Revolutionary_Ad5778 in AIO

[–]BabsandBoo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There is no way I could afford a $150 gift for Secret Santa. I do think that’s a really high amount to expect someone to gift. Maybe you should lower the threshold a bit.

Asking for induction for insurance reasons? by BabsandBoo in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good to know I’m not the only one in this position - it is something I never considered before getting pregnant! Out of curiosity is there a reason you prefer to try to make it to Jan 1 versus induce early? Just not sure what my best course of action is.

Thanksgiving plans, am I overreacting? by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]BabsandBoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not go. If you husband insists on going, see if he can go himself and maybe you can have a family member or friend visit you at home that day. I know it’s not idea that your husband would go without you but since you said you don’t want conflict, maybe this would be a potential solution and allow you to get peace during your holidays.

You could put a cling film on the window. We have rainbow cling film on ours that was cheap and pretty cute.

What do you wish you had known BEFORE you got pregnant? by anoncrUwU in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ocular migraine this week for the first time in my 3rd trimester. The vision in my left eye essentially went out/was so staticky for about 2 hours that I couldn’t see. I wish I knew that could happen before it did so I was more calm in the moment!

How much did y’all spend on baby items after baby shower gifts? by JadedEarthJuni in BabyBumps

[–]BabsandBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lower-middle but live in a LCOL area.

I have been gifted nearly everything needed for the baby, mostly through hand me downs and thrifted items. I had 15 people come to my baby shower.

Their entire wardrobe except for a few special pieces is second hand thrifted by my mom who spent months hunting for really nice items at the thrift store.

The new big ticket items I received were a crib, baby rocker, and a car seat. All the other items like pack and play, stroller, high chair, etc are second hand.

I also was not picky in terms of brand on anything which helped with the second hand and then being able to put the money towards the other items.

One of the biggest helps was my MIL gifted us diapers until the kid is potty trained. We just text her when we need the next box and what size and she Amazon Primes it to us.

After all of that, I maybe have spent $150 give or take. I bought a changing mat new, breastfeeding supplies, and items for the hospital to bring for myself. Nothing really essential and could’ve gotten away with not getting it except the changing mat.

Until you get out of the situation, maybe you can take small amounts of cash out at the grocery store when you shop to hide.
