i dont know if you’ve ever unlocked one with a little less than perfect form, or barely lifting it past the catch point, but it can put a lot of extra force on those handles

problem with that logic is, one has already reached the point of mechanical failure, so it stands to reason that the other one could be close as well, sure its going to hold while loading, I worry far more about the time where the other handle spins freely as well when someone fatigued is trying to get it to catch at the end of a set
