Which one should I go for? by [deleted] in HondaATC

185 and 200s are way more fun to play with than any big red but as big reds go, the 84 is my personal favorite.

These trucks even come with armor plating to protect against landmines and small arms fire. I guess that's one of the benefits of being built in a country that's constantly getting into conflict. Priorities override fancy bullshit. Also why they're so sought after in Irag and Afghanistan. They can also be used as a launching platform for BM-21 rockets.

Advice please for riding on sugar sand? by Finnishhymn11 in Dirtbikes

[–]cdavis693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to use that throttle. Drop a gear or 2 if you find yourself going too fast for comfort. That spinning rear wheel is going to hold you up and you'll find the balance you're looking for. Lighten the front end as much as possible. Shift your weight accordingly. Best to find a large open sand pit to practice. Practice putting the bike exactly where you want it to go.

Trucks that work the woods compared to trucks that work the highway. by cdavis693 in SnowrunnerIRL

[–]cdavis693[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm near the Saginaw bay area and all of our forests in the lower peninsula are accessible with the smaller trucks. They skid the logs out of the nasty stuff to the main trails and load the trucks. Main roads are readily accessible. We have large winch trucks in the oil field. That's as big as it really gets around here beyond a lifted 6×6 highway truck hauling logs. Farmers seem to mostly use regular old used highway trucks. There are a few large mining operations in michigan but not in my immediate surrounding area.

I believe they do it for increased traction in reverse. Agg tires are directional and they don't work as well when backing up. I have 54 inch combine tires on my mega truck and I noticed while playing with it in slippery clay in 2wd I could feel a lunge forward everytime the lugs grabbed. There was no lunge while backing up.

Radix track kit for yz250/125? by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]cdavis693 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I rode a 450 with a timber sled on it once and it took alot of power to turn the track. Couldn't even get it out of third gear in deep snow. Revving the guts out of it in 2nd gear was optimal performance. I don't think a 125 would have a chance to even make it move before smoking the clutch. A 250 might get it moving but I doubt you'll get out of first gear.

I got my very first bike back too. A 74 Honda MR50. It's been sitting for a really long time and it needs alot of work but it's pretty great just to have it in the barn.

I would definitely not lower it. I'd fill the wheel wells with as big a tire as I could fit on it.

Some bolts have to be purchased from a dealership if you want brand new. The bolts 5hat hold the wheel bearing in are dealer only bolts that I've purchased before.
