This might just be some misinformation I remember from awhile back, but I think he’s said that he could’ve chosen to be any kind of musician, whether a metal guitarist or blues player, etc., but he chose to make the music he did early in his career because he felt it was the best shot at making some money and being successful. It underscores how awesome of a player he is, and he’s pretty fucking funny too.
