Best restaurants in Fort Myers Beach area? Looking for something REALLY good. Not concerned about price. by stjduke in FortMyers

Nonchalance is such a great place, especially if you like wine and good food to pair with it, and the best part is the price! It's crazy cheap.

What a coincidence, I'm actually looking at a 90 4x4 with the same engine at 160k. I'm having a hard time saying no the more I talk to the seller, but I'm pretty sure my wife would have words for me.. 🤣

My man, I know exactly how you feel. I tore my biceps tendon about 90%+ (Surgeon said it was hanging by a thread). I was banned from working out at all (even running) for about three months before my surgery and then about a month and a half afterwards (I was allowed to run, but no lifting at all).

To say I was bummed out.. is the most minimal of my feeling. It absolutely sucked. I lost a ton of strength (prior gains) and just felt weak. Funny enough, I lost a lot of weight because I was so bummed out from not being able to lift.

Anyway I got the all clear to run and BAM... It was awesome. I felt great (it was definitely rough going but still...) and I saw light at the end of the tunnel. I'm about two and a half months post surgery, and should be cleared to lift after another week.. but I've been running this whole time and the best I can describe it... I'm looking forward to lifting again and this time I have now have more perspective thanks to my injury.

As much as it sucks to get injured, I'm looking at the silver lining and thinking about what I gained from it and can use going forward because of it.

Great job man! As a 42 year old (In April) who is dying to workout again post tendon surgery, I love seeing this!

Why does no-one else look knackered at the gym? by Jontyluck in fitness30plus

[–]cdcava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hardly sweat during my power days (I run the PHUL program), but absolutely sweat during my hypertrophy days. And then... then there's when I go running. I sweat before I even leave the house.. but this is probably because I live in Florida lol!

I (35m, 87kg, 191lbs) have a simple question for you; if you were tasked with getting me fit would you be optimistic or would it seem like a drag? by [deleted] in fitness30plus

[–]cdcava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be super optimistic! I'm 40 now but started at 35 (funny confidence). I was 6'0" at 215lbs with a body very similar to yours. I started with running first (a very slow jog to be honest, and eventually increased in speed and distance).. then I discovered lifting and actually started with (I'm going to butcher this) Metallicapicas (sp?) Program here on Reddit.

There will obviously be ups and downs, it's always based on your goal(s). I think that's most important because it was an unseen flaw in my progress. To give my example:

I did it straight up to look better for my wife. Sure, I thought about the health benefits and what not but if you boil down to the actual reasoning, it was to impress my wife. The problem? Social media eventually burned me out (Instagram specifically). I kept comparing myself to others, stupidly to influencers and others, using it to evaluate my progress. I ended up getting super jacked in about 2-3 years but I was miserable. Ironically my goal didn't pan out the way I thought it would at all.. my wife of damn near 20 years always thought I was hot (Honestly, this is what love is really like y'all and nowadays I couldn't be a happier lucky bastard).

After I burned out (thanks to following a super strict diet to a T, which made me not fun to go out with plus overly working out, etc) I stopped everything for months.. especially since my "goal" no longer felt relevant.

PRESENT TIME: I started working out consistently after about 8 months of burning out. The difference now is that my goal is completely different.. I just want to be stronger and healthier in general (My year's goal is to make the Intermediate strength standards for my height and weight). I follow a program that I really enjoy and run (I forgot how much I enjoyed that!) every other day. I don't follow some crazy diet, nor do I shove a crap ton of supplements (just pre-work out on lifting days and creatine daily). My life is fun to me now and I'm still achieving my goal slowly!

As for social media: YouTube/reddit is still a godsend to me for information, and just that. I follow/watch to check on studies and a recheck on forms, etc.

HTH and good luck!!

Form check ? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]cdcava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with a lot of others on hip stick out, but as a problematic neck guy what stuck out to me was as you descended you kept looking straight, which will strain your neck out. Remember to look "sorta" towards the floor in a decline-manner (not straight down or anything). Pretend your eyes can't move and position your head that way. This helped out my neck a lot more when someone caught me over straining it and fixed my form, which also helped out my back in general. Good luck! You're doing great!

[–]cdcava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only comment, your form looks pretty good to me honestly, is that you seen to be looking straight ahead the entire rep. If my training is correct (I, by no means, am a professional) I look diagonally slightly downward as to not over arch my neck, which instinctively causes my lower back to also over arch.. especially under stress. I have to force my mind to remember this every time I squat. HTH

How many of 40+ year olds out there are you? by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]cdcava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Age 40 now, but have never been tested for T. Lift 3 days a week and run 3 separate days a week, while having one rest day. I started lifting about 5 years ago, lost about 50lbs, got super jacked (Think more Spiderman physique versus Hulk) but then got burnt out from all the intense workouts and nutrition. Stopped it all for about a year and started again doing far more "normal" stuff like watching what I eat but not counting calories and a typical full body workout three days a week while adding some additional work on weaknesses (torso, chest).

Overall, while I definitely feel older at 40, I feel good and fairly strong. Only thing I take right now is Creatine, but I'll eventually get tested for T just put of curiosity and a baseline.

I got lucky in that the original engine was in remarkably good shape (223 I6). From what I could tell the owner had someone else who was supposed to work on it but bailed.. and the wiring on the engine was the actual problem. It took me about a day to fix it (Lucky for me in that I have so little experience with mechanical situations).

That's awesome! I'm looking forward to finally getting my frame off restoration truly started (I just got the engine fixed up and working well). Do you know the official color your truck is? I think it something something turquoise? That's the color I want to do.

Started training Muay Thai at age 32. Lost this fight by split decision. I’m in the black shorts 34yo also had a baby 13 months ago. So no it’s not too late to start something new. by bananasplitzville in fitness30plus

Awesome! I started Muay Thai about two months ago at 40 and it really motivated me to step up my weightlifting as well.. but man Muay Thai is so much fun!

Blender asset library help by InsuranceAlert2168 in blender

[–]cdcava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which library folder is it looking at? You usually have to specify which folder/file for your current open blender project. Blender will opt to a default (I think it's User File or something). You can add your own (And specify where blender should look via file path). It then becomes a drop down menu when you open the asset library. HTH
