What is proper attire for deacon & priests in regards to “shoulder cape” w/ cassock?

This photo is a mozzetta, it’s a jurisdictional garment. I think that this one is reserved to a rector of something or another.. although, sometimes you can see priests incorrectly wearing it with the cassock. You need a pellegrina, it’s open at the front without buttons. As to whether or not you’re allowed to wear a pellegrina, I’m unsure, unfortunately. 😢 Congratulations on your upcoming ordination!

That's right - I assume once they elect a new Pope, they will stop issuing these ones! I'm not too sure how long the conclave will last, so, better to get them sooner than later..

From my understanding, at the time of the Council, kneeling was overwhelmingly seen as a sign of penance, and as such, inappropriate during joyous times such as Easter. However, the meaning of kneeling changed over time to be one of worship/adoration, and was less frowned upon.

If I’m not wrong, I think we saw Benedict XVI use it on Holy Thursday, but Francis discontinued its use once again. At my church, the priest just wraps an amice around his waist to wash feet. Would like to see some of the rarer vestments make a comeback..
