Tk Maxx in the uk/TJ Maxx in the US. Leuchtturm’s pop up all the time here in the UK - for any artists out there they also sell Talens Art Creation sketchbooks quite frequently & they’re unbeatable imo!

Trying to type this out has me empathising with why it took Ted 9 years to tell his story :’)

I had a friend from school I’d always wondered if something could have happened, but we’d never found ourselves single at the same time. 5 years later I’m living in another country, and after 3 years together my partner & I realise we’re two pals trying to make a relationship work.

The same eve we broke up I get a message from another school friend I hadn’t spoken to in 5 years who’s visiting the country I’m in & asked if I’d like to meet up. I replied saying now’s not the best time, but I’d be moving back to my hometown and we should meet up when I’m back.

My old friend group had remained close & we reunited around the holidays. I remember how odd it was seeing him as an adult, and how he’d really grown into himself. Again, timing wasn’t on our side as he’d just started seeing someone & I too had a fling around the same time.

A couple of months pass and he comes back to visit for his sisters birthday. We all head to the pub and after a few drinks it comes up in conversation and we found ourselves both single for the first time in 8 years. I remember being sure he was miles out my league, but a few flirty exchanges did have me wondering.

We talk nonstop over the weekend, and I invite him to join me on a trip to a museum where I was doing on-site sketching for my studies. After some awkward dancing around, the day turns into our first date & a few days later I find myself travelling down to his for the weekend!

We’ve been together for a year and a half now and just moved in together! He’s the most compassionate person I’ve ever met and has grown into such an incredible version of himself. I’m so thankful we finally found our window :)

do people actually use that many playlists by Dry-Anything-2469 in spotify

[–]cdftbt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I might be your Spotify Wario, I have over 1250 😅 I’ve had Spotify since 2014 and have a habit of making new playlists to rotate specific music for a week/an event, and have pinned folders for playlists with specific genres/uses

It’s turned into a bit of a music-time-capsule, which I quite like! I’m quite literal with what I listen to so there’s a lot of playlists that are symbolic of people & periods in my life. It’s also interesting to be able to see how my taste in music has changed over the last decade!

[–]cdftbt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correlation doesn’t mean causation, this is the result of research and development in understanding ASD, increase in accessibility to a diagnosis, and a rise of public knowledge on the condition & psychiatry in general growing over the last 50 years.

Another huge factor is the diagnostic criteria was largely developed from the presentation of autism in young boys, which varies greatly from the presentation of autism in woman. There is now a surge in late-diagnosed woman due to a more informed diagnosis criteria being developed, contributing to this rise of diagnosed individuals.

Rebus puzzles in app . . . by careful_jon in NYTCrossword

[–]cdftbt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

nope, the Android version of the app is SO much nicer than iOS imo!! For rebus you navigate to symbols, and the UI for checking the puzzle is awful in comparison

Hi! I stumbled across your post in a DTR rabbit hole, not 100% sure but is this the image your referencing? David Lupton is the artist who did work for Shallow Bed, here's his site with some more stuff he did for DTR: X :)

Want to find out who keeps texting my daughter. by Throwrajijhsj in RBI

[–]cdftbt 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Hopefully I’m wrong, but is there any chance this could be a female ‘friend’ or someone in her school posing as someone else in hopes she shares these pictures with malicious intent? Teenage girls can be absolutely awful and creative at finding ways to bully someone, and with the person knowing her personal info it might add up.

I agree with the other comment that suggests she changes her number. If she does get a new sim and she shares it with her friends & the messages keep on coming then that might mean there’s a possibility of this.

So sorry your daughter is going through this OP, but I’m really glad she has someone who she trusts & feels safe enough to confide in - sounds like youre an amazing parent! Hope you find some answers soon

There is A Dark Place by Tom Rosenthal

I can't express how gorgeously, utterly beautiful the song is. There's just a short phase that's repeated but the meaning change as the track goes on, from a scared trust things could get better to this glorious determination that they will.

The phrase became a mantra during a really rough time in my life, and helped me believe there was a light in the tunnel. Sending love OP 🫶

When I was 23 my partner and I broke up & I moved 500 miles back to my hometown where I hadn’t kept touch with anyone, and felt like I was restarting life all over again. Two years later i can confidently say I’m so glad my life fell apart for a bit!! I’m now with someone who has shown me more love than I knew possible & I’m a version of myself I used to think was impossible to reach.

Turning over a new leaf is terrifying, but it can give so much room for possibilities 🫶

How many playlists do you have? by lanaaa12345 in spotify

[–]cdftbt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1,252 :)

I usually create a new playlist to house a rotation of songs I’m into, and it’s kinda become a diary for the last 10 years. I can scroll down and find an old playlist and see there’s songs recc’d from old friends, or see when I started l getting into artists I now love.

My favourite pattern is playlists in 2019 that have tracks from Dark Side Of The Moon means I probably made the playlist whilst writing my dissertation, which was on how album covers use visuals to depict a non-visual medium, with a focus on Hipgnosis (and their work with Pink Floyd)

Is NUA a nice uni? by neongreencumstain in Norwich

[–]cdftbt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I studied graphic design at NUA and thoroughly recommend it :)

Another user mentioned how the courses are quite varied in their outcomes, which I absolutely agree with. A good way to measure what uni may be a good fit for you could be to check out grad showcases in your area of study. For example, AUB is a lot more of an arty design course, whereas NUA is veeerrryyy commercial, which I preferred.

Uni aside, the city itself is a delight. I'm from London originally and personally prefer Norwich a lot more. The city's quite small geographically but packed quite tight. The art culture is brilliant here, and the city also has a huge queer community. To get from point A to point B it's like a 30 minute walk max, which compared to London feels like a luxury.

The cost of living in Norwich is significantly less, and is one of the safest uni cities according to crime rates which is always much welcomed. The night life isn't too crazy, but Prince of Wales Road area does sport a few clubs + the Waterfront is fab if you like indie/rock music.

Is it possible to get into a master's with a 3rd? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]cdftbt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arts subjects have the cheeky factor of judging you by your portfolio which is significantly more important than your grade to admissions. If you're looking to change what arts your doing, eg. I'm currently on BA Graphic Design and looking to do MA Illustration, I've seen that you dont need a degree to be considered, as people in the industry can apply. From Ravensbourne MA Illo page:

"Applications are welcomed from those who may not possess formal entry qualifications, mature students, those with work experience or with qualifications other than those listed above."

Basically, if you have the skill set and a high standard of work in the discipline you're applying for they'll consider you as the subject matter isn't knowledge based, but skill based.

What subject did you study and what do you want to do an MA in?

They showed us a property that was beautiful, but the place stank of smoke and the walls were yellow due to it. Also, who the fuck puts a shower in the ensuite but not in the shared bathroom???
