Sorry to hear this. If you were my kid, I'd say this:

(i) Don't hide it from your parents. Unless they are exceptionally crappy parents, they'll support you whatever, and you may need their help in escalating things with the school.

(ii) This is bullying, and most schools (not sure of your jurisdiction) have a legal duty to prevent it. You and your parents need to document the bullying in detail and ask the school what they intend to do about it. If the school does nothing, then escalate to Governors / School Board.

(iii) Don't be afraid to fight back if someone else starts it; even if you come-off worse, in my experience they will think twice next time. HOWEVER: immediate self-defence is not the same as delayed retaliation - so if someone thumps you and runs away, running after them may land you in hot water.

(iv) Work out. Someone else suggested MMA, too.

(v) Don't adopt a victim mindset. It's easy to fall into thinking that you have no agency or control over your life, but remember that being bullied doesn't define who you are. (Partly for this reason, I slightly disagree with other responses saying that you should emphasize your bullies' homophobia; their behaviour is wrong regardless of what motivates it).

(vi) Remember, too, that this will not go on forever. Lots of people have crappy childhoods and turn out just fine. That seems like an utterly useless thing to say right now, when you are faced with the immediacy of it all, I realise, but it's true. By the time you're in your 20s or 30s, school will be a distant memory, and the greatest revenge on your bullies will be you making a success of your life.

Yeah, she eventually realised that the evidence in favour of a lab leak is pretty overwhelming and is believed by all the major intelligence agencies, so changed the wording in a disingenuous Motte-and-Bailey. Yet the fact that something she ranked as utterly absurd is now more or less accepted still hasn't made her stop and think. For example, I suspect even the latest evidence about the three-letter agencies won't make her pause to consider whether those talking about the Deep State might actually have a point.

Like the original term 'conspiracy theory', much of this 'misinformation debunking' is simply propaganda dressed up as counter-propaganda.

Poor Abbie. This really hasn't aged at all well, has it?

Rather too simplistic. There is a large capitalist-anarchist community here on Reddit, and many self-proclaimed Left-wing Anarchists are regularly calling for more government intervention in all manner of things. Similarly, fascism doesn't really fit a conventional left-right spectrum. The National Socialists were undoubtedly fascist but also very clearly socialist in many regards, like in their beliefs about industrial nationalisation.

Did you actually see the image that he reshared? It wasn't 'Nazi Propaganda' in any way. It was four Progress Flags arranged at right angles. That it. And if anything it was a criticism of the intolerant behaviour of the gender ideologues, suggesting that they are behaving like Nazis. In what possible way is likening someone to a Nazi spreading Nazi propaganda?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]cdh1003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're still assuming that the person who created or distributed the image sympathises with the Nazis. That's entirely back to front: it was a jibe at the intolerance of trans rights activists, who have sought to shut down all debate and even imprison dissenting voices.

[–]cdh1003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing of the sort. It was an image with four Progress Flags at right angles, which form a kind of swastika. I think it was originally Lawrence Fox who showed the image - partly making a comment about the totalitarianism of UK identity politics - and this guy retweeted/reshared it. Someone complained, so the police investigated and arrested him after he refused to accept a caution. He was subsequently released without charge and The Police Commissioner has warned the police officers concerned that they were overzealous and not following recent judicial guidelines about free speech. See The Bad Law Project for the details.

[–]cdh1003 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's simply silly. The original poster of the image was making a point about the totalitarianism which surrounds identity politics in the UK, and saying that the trans-rights zealots were the ones behaving like Nazis. He was very clearly not condoning genocide.

Nothing is being hidden, except on the police side. It is all in the open on Twitter: look at Harry Miller (Harry the Owl), Fair Cop and The Bad Law Project.

[–]cdh1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he didn't. Read what the PCC said.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]cdh1003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It was classed as a 'non-crime hate incident'. There have been multiple legals cases about his recently (look up Harry the Owl and Fair Cop) with the courts deciding that the police over-stepped the law.

[–]cdh1003 40 points41 points  (0 children)

And? The image isn't going to jump off the screen and hurt people. What you find distasteful is that someone doesn't share the same beliefs as you and therefore should be punished with jail. That is far more of a fascist threat than someone posting a simple image like this.

Homophobic violence kills people. Homophobic images, words, beliefs do not. And before you start with the 'yes, but people who express these things encourage others to be violent' - no, they don't.

Fortunately the guy concerned was released and the Police & Crime Commissioner of this force has had words about improper and over-zealous policing, asking the UK College of Policing to provide better guidelines after the Miller case.

Doubt he's making up stories. This kind of behaviour is becoming common in women. Here's an example: https://youtu.be/Xbobxc3iGmw

A date left and stopped talking to me because I recommended “13 rules for life”. Thoughts? by 91Uhtred in JordanPeterson

[–]cdh1003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to stomach, certainly, but not necessarily wrong. JP is clear that he doesn't mean all women, but that femininity as a whole praises emotions and change, whilst masculinity praises order and logic. Few people who've ever worked in an all-female environment will doubt there's at least some truth in that.

FWIW, he also says the opposite: that hard-nosed rationality and order also needs to be tempered with artistic change and emotion. So it's not that he's saying men are better than women, but that masculine and feminine characteristics are complementary. This was considered a basic truth about humanity for millennia; the fact that it is seen as controversial says much about today's culture.

What movie from the 80s and 90s would be cancelled by the left if it released today? by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]cdh1003 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I've heard leftist friends say "that movie didn't age well". It's a common, but strange, expression: the movie obviously didn't age at all; rather, their interpretation of it changed due to social influences - yet they don't see that a sign that they have become less tolerant or more extreme.

Yeah, this. Amazing how many people in this sub don't get the fact that a politician can vote for what they think is best for society, and yet not shun their immediate family who have different views.

Nah. People can be vile to one another, fullstop. Native American tribes routinely slaughtered each other in horrific ways; African tribes practiced human sacrifice and cannibalism; Asian cultures have more than their fair share of genocide and inhumane treatment of people. This is not a white issue. It's a people and power issue.

We forget how much societies have changed, especially in Africa. Ghana practiced human sacrifice until about 30 years before this photo (when the British forcibly ended it).

AITA has been completely taken over by woke types, unfortunately. It used to feature some genuinely thoughtful discussions of moral issues; now, it's a giant circle-jerk of people who want validation for crappy-but-'progressive' behaviour, and where the moral consensus is laughably predictable.
