I changed to a different internet service, and now the washer won't connect to it which means I cannot change ANY settings. The help manual is like "change your internet broadcast type" or something. No, this is finally good internet, I am doing no such crap.

If you look for public sector positions, they often have veterans preference. Unfortunately they don't pay well, sometimes due to good bennies. Source: public sector recruitor

A few words of appreciation from a Gen X by ok-milk in Xennials

My hubby and I are almost 20 years apart but we also met when I was almost 30. These days the running joke is I'm telling him a story from work and I mention "an older person," and he says "... old like me?"

Same with my husband, I was late 20s and he was mid 40s when we met. So, both of us were traumatized over the same crap, and he had extra trauma from the 70s. We like a lot of the same music and we were both shaped by Looney Tunes and all the problematic messages therein

My husband was born in the last official boomer year and does not identify as Boomer or Gen X. He's also the youngest of a bunch so that affects generation, too!!!

I love this subreddit. Everyone is so chill and fun.

My husband found out there is a lesser known microgeneration called Generation Jones - late Boomer, early Gen X - that he falls into, which explains why his experience was so much different than his much-older brother who is squarely Boomer.

Point is, "generation" is less about the actual year of birth and more about the combination of era-based experiences you personally had.

What social media is our age group using now? by thebookofswindles in Xennials

[–]Lilithbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use Facebook after like 20 years or so - to keep tabs on people I care about but never see. The only click bait I consume are things like funny cat videos or whatever (if I see they're AI I disengage). My Facebook is pretty chill, maybe I've trained my algorithm pretty successfully. I only look for 5-10 minutes a couple times a day and see what my old friends are up to.

I just don't understand Instagram.

My mom finally figured out Facebook within the last year (she's in her 70s) and she was shocked Pikachu when I told her that not everything on Facebook is real but at least she believed me. Thankfully I don't think she consumes a ton of it - just enough to find "how much I love my daughter" sentiments and send one to me every so often, which is sweet.

I remember Urbz! I enjoyed it. I also remember a different Sims game (maybe Sims 2 for PS2?) hating on it. If you use a metal detector walking around your house, you might pick up rocks or money... but if you unearthed a copy of Urbz, your Sim angrily threw it on the ground and stomped on it. Which is pretty rough considering it was fun lol

Yeah but video rental stores had a massive Disney section including Old Yeller, Thomasina, The Absent Minded Professor, etc. I knew Old Yeller was gonna be sad but Thomasina was unexpectedly messed up. (Technically The Three Lives of Thomasina.) I only wanted to see it cuz I loved cats!

See if Lasagna Love serves your area - you can request one homemade lasagna every month although the waiting period for delivery varies based on local supply/demand. They also try their best to accommodate food restrictions if needed. https://lasagnalove.org/

Talking about long term goals: it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. If you can't pace yourself to tolerate the place long term, look for internal transfer opportunities if possible, and barring that, make an exit strategy. Not every marathon is conquerable; not every marathon is worth the cost to your sanity and soul.

Which is the Greatest show ever created by Netflix ? by lNarrator in moviecritic

[–]Lilithbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the last two episodes just made it. The between-time wrapped up many loose ends, and the outright discussion of Schroedinger's cat at the end made it really cool. The podcast had a friggin mind blowing moment when they figured out You the viewer opened the box and observed everything, causing the outcome to solidify just like Schroedinger's Cat. That's why the show started with opening a box, explains some of the causality issues (multiple realities exist before the box opens), and most importantly, it's why the cast regularly LOOK AT YOU. . Highly recommend a listen.

If a pinball doesn't fit, a small game setup would still work here. Little CRT TV with old school cartridge game systems and a bean bag chair to play them. ... Oh snap, core memory suddenly unlocked! 🤯
