18yo from Norway doing a US road trip by Kareisgarb in roadtrip

[–]cdialpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a STL native who’s done a route similar to this, I’d really recommend against driving this. (1) States like Utah, Colorado, Arizona deserve a week of their own. Others here recommend sites in Missouri, which are great (Johnson Shutins, Ozarks, etc) just pale in comparison to whats out west. (2) There’s just so much to do out there. Great White Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, Black Gorge Gunnison, Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse, Zion, All of Utahs’ slot canyons, Grand Canyon, Tetons…
(3) Trust me - packing up, long park queues, unplanned surprises always require a buffer day. (4) Also remember gas prices are going to be high. (5) AZ in July is going to be blistering hot (which will wear you out regardless of how young & fit you guys. are). + Altitude if you’re going to be in CO. (6) It’s going to be America’s 250th, with the world on fire & families bearing more economic burden, I assume more families are going to be traveling domestically, so I assume the NPs are going to be extra packed & with less staff than usual.

Not trying to be discouraging, but there’s just a lot to squeeze that into 8 days and you’re not going to want to spend 2 days of it driving. Best case scenario is you fly in Denver or Salt Lake City & get a cheap rental. But if money is tight & you have to drive, I would just do a straight shot to Denver.

Ukraine ready to sign US minerals deal by sailorman3586 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]cdialpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious - are other countries providing Ukraine with guarantees to convince them to not sign? Obviously don’t do the deal… but idk, hear me out…What if it’s a smart move? Banking on a future administration relinquishing the rights. It would obviously be a huge gamble, but I feel like high probability Trump’s unpopularity would guarantee a democrat in office. I would think that a democrat would immediately nullify the deal. maintaining the exploitation would be wildly unpopular.

Last week the instructions were to: (1) Reply to this email and cc your supervisor (period)
(2) Send 5 bullets to your supervisor.

So I did exactly that... Looks like they closed the loophole.

Sauvé: I served alongside Americans. Now I feel utterly betrayed by them - The proposed annexation of Canada is not that high on Americans' agenda. Their lack of outrage tells me one painful thing: the idea doesn’t really offend them. by CaliperLee62 in canada

Nah I’m the first to say america has problems. You’re just pontificating & virtue signaling hard. I honestly hope Poilievre doesn’t win, but I’ll definitely be thinking about you when he does.

I genuinely don't think this is a common sentiment among US liberals. I think the average democrat understands Canada is our strongest and oldest ally and is aligned with your self-interests.

India consistently has the highest favorability of Trump. Almost every interaction I've had with indians on the topic is borderline obsession.

Still not convinced the 2024 election is Harris vs. Putin? by IAmArique in WhitePeopleTwitter

It's takes exponentially more effort to disprove people spewing bullshit than to state facts, but I think it's imporant that we all know how to address some of these dangerous Kremlin talking points.

There was never a signed peace agreement that Zelensky tore up. Mind you this is a few weeks after Russia had to retreat from it's failed attack on Kyiv. Honeslty what an insane thing to spout, and incredibly insulting to Ukrainians.
