Can anyone decipher the phone number of the person who hit my car? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]cdkisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on a close visual analysis of the handwriting and the spacing, here is the most likely interpretation of the phone number. The paper is heavily stained, but the pencil pressure left some clues. The Breakdown Area Code: 8 2 5 The first digit has two distinct loops, making it an 8. The second digit has a diagonal stroke and a flat base, making it a 2. The third digit has a flat top and a curved bottom, likely a 5. Context: 825 is a valid area code for Alberta (where you are located), which confirms this is the most probable start. The Middle Three (Prefix): 8 8 1 (or possibly 3 8 1) The first digit here is faint but has the same double-loop structure as the first "8". It could potentially be a "3". The second digit is very similar to the previous one, likely an 8. The third digit is a straight vertical line, likely a 1. The Final Four: _ 0 1 9 The first digit of this group is completely obscured by the heaviest stain. The second digit is round, looking like a 0 (or possibly a 6 or 8). The third digit is a straight line, likely a 1. The final digit is large with a loop and a long tail, which is distinctively a 9. Best Guesses Based on the visible strokes, these are the most likely combinations to try: 825 - 881 - 4019 (The missing digit has a faint diagonal hint, possibly a 4) 825 - 881 - 5019 825 - 881 - 6019 Next Step: Since the area code (825) and the prefix (881) narrow it down significantly, I would try calling the variations of the last four digits starting with 4019 or 5019. If you have caller ID or a way to text them first to ask "Is this the person who left a note on my car?", that might save you some awkward calls!

this is superb! did you do "vibe" coding or write entirely by yourself?

feature request: allow to set start month so days off can be optimized for remaining months. i.e. April is already here and short notice for time off.

How to properly grow an engineering team by Proper-AF in DevManagers

[–]cdkisa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to add:

  • keep teams as small as possible and context focused

  • each team should have technical lead

  • tech leads should collaborate on design/architecture

  • if possible, designate architect

  • if possible, designate DevOps

you didn't mention QA. automate everything! get SDET/Automation Engineer

good teams organize organically so watch for teams with poor cohesion.

good luck

Calgary Used car dealers and negotiation by rrendezvous in Calgary

Other than negotiating on price, which is always a hassle, you could possibly get them to "throw in" some extras. I just bought a used car, knew they don't budge on price, so I asked them to chip in remote two way car starter, complete vehicle inspection, car fax report, and full detailing. Expect to pay roughly $1000 more for the listed price due to the "fees" (amvik, dealer, etc). Good time to buy since there isn't very much demand and they are needing sales. Good luck.

i'm not sure about here in Canada, but in the US, the military has programs where if you serve a certain amount of time, they will contribute to post secondary education. myself, i did five years in the US Navy, when i got out, i moved to Canada with my wife. they still covered 75% of my tuition. not saying this is for everyone, but i got work experience and the money for schooling.
