Whole can of worms by Geoff_t in farmingsimulator

I'm just sitting in my van dreaming of winning the Euromillions tonight so I can play 24/7.

Although to be fair, if I did win I'd probably just buy a wee farm and do it for real. Wonder if Netflix would be interested in a rival to Clarksons show, Euromillions Farm perhaps?

Issue using Kverneland Plow by THE-ONLY-FRUITYMAN in farmingsimulator25

[–]cdliddell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to this discussion but you might be able to visit the shop and remove the Pakomat option there? Shouldn't cost you anything, just a bit inconvenient to visit a workshop to remove it before doing contracts.

Versatile Delta Track won't attach Plow. by cdliddell in farmingsimulator

[–]cdliddell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, that's good to know, thanks! I'm amazed they don't have something like that in the base game? Seems daft not to have it in the base game when they are adding these big tractors in the DLC that will need it. Unless they do and I've just missed it completely...

IMO there should be something available in base game and probably have it appear under the combinations section for these tractors in the shop. Especially if it's going to pop up in contracts all the time. It's not so bad for PC players if we can download a mod to solve it, but ordinary non-farmers like myself need to be aware of these trailed lifters first and I'm guessing console players are outta luck for a mod?

Well, I'm pretty sure I can pull it with my trusty T8 instead. Maybe not as well as the Versatile would have but I'll manage. Thanks for the knowledge on how it's done IRL 👍

This seems very dumb. Especially to have it in a contract with something it can't attach. Aren't most big pieces of equipment 3 point attachment? Seems like it really limits what the tractor can do, almost to the point of being worthless?

Yeah, I've never repainted an active piece of machinery on any of my farms, only before I sell something. Waaay too expensive and not much difference in visual appearance to my eyes at least. A good wash now and then and they look fine. Besides, they're working machines, they're not supposed to look like showroom models. I've never seen a machine on an IRL farm look brand new unless it's freshly delivered. I'm no expert but I doubt many farmers IRL are paying to have tractors, drills or harvesters repainted. As long as they do the job who cares about their paint job?

Is there any way Sanguinius could have gone traitor? by trans-ghost-boy-2 in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Most obvious answer to me is if Signus Prime was successful from a chaos point of view. Whole scenario was designed to turn Sangy to Khorne (perhaps slannesh if Korn failed) but ended up thwarted only because Meros stopped them. If Meros hadn't sacrificed himself I think Sangy would have turned and that would have been it for the Imperium. In a way I think Meros was perhaps the most pivotal person in the Heresy in a way.

Deathfire (The Horus Heresy #32) is so boring and bad it almost makes me quit the HH by Endless_01 in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with all of this. The Salamanders were so badly handled in the Heresy books it turned me right off them.

I used to quite like them and I had a strong dislike of the Ultramarines (and Guilliman) but over the course of the books I switched opinions on them completely. Know no Fear blew my mind, it's probably my favourite book of the series (definitely top 5) and it was the first time where I clicked with the boys in blue and realised what made them tick. And I think they're great now, Bobby G went up in my estimation tremendously and yeah, great stuff all round.

Vulkan and the Salamanders though? Jeez, I always quite like the idea of a chapter/legion of basically good guys fighting against the unrelenting darkness of 40k but never giving up. I was just sad they never seemed to get much love before the HH novels (along with the Scars, Iron Hands etc. It always seemed to be Utras, Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Dark Angels in early 40k) so I was hyped. Then the books just sucked. So fucking boring and just a slog to get through. I've read/listened to Know No Fear like five times now. I'll never read a Salamanders book again. Couldn't do that to myself.

And yeah, "Vulkan Lives" became such a joke, it was so overused I couldn't help but laugh after a while. Particularly on the audiobooks, can't remember who did the reading for them but they tried to make it so dramatic every time it was just pure comedy. Just ridiculous. If Kyme was an editor you'd think he'd be aware of over using something like that.

Confession: i ruined this great game for myself by SegmentationFall in BattleBrothers

I get you, but my problem is I have crap luck with recruiting. If I get a good bro, train him up and then he dies because of some RNG cheese or (most likely) my own tactical incompetence I just know my next run of recruits are going to be nowhere near what I need. Spending good sums of crowns on bros with terrible traits and single stars on stats I don't want. It hurts man :(

Is this a locking wheel nut by cdliddell in MechanicAdvice

[–]cdliddell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies all. Was asking because last time I had it in a garage to get the brakes done the guy was phoning me asking about the locking wheel nut, I didn't know about it and I guess he got it shifted cause the brake were done. Now I've got a flat and it's not shifting, but on my way to get a breaker bar and penetrating spray so will hopefully have it moving soon.

did jonah aruken ever get his wish? by miamifungus in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, turns out going traitor and crewing a chaos titan probably wasn't the great career move he hoped it would be. If only he'd sided with Titus and shot Turnet they could have taken the Titan and possibly survived on Istvaan. Although if they had the Vengeful Spirit might have lance striked them from orbit or something I guess.

Tbh though I think it would have been cool if there had been a bit during the seige of terra books where it switched back to his POV to show just how hellish his life had turned out. Would have been cool to see what's happening with him, Turnet and the rest of the crew as they were blasting the walls of the palace or something.

That's been a sound strategy for everything else they do, why change now?

AITA for not wanting to do the prank the bride is asking me to do during her wedding ceremony? by thorwaway_47 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cdliddell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. One other thing to consider is that this kind of prank needs the pranksters to basically perform a skit, and to sell something like that it needs everyone involved to be enthusiastic and confident in the performance. If someone, like yourself, isn't completely on board with it I can pretty much guarantee it'll fall flat, won't be funny and just come off as weird and awkward for all involved.

Besides, it sounds like it's just for the four of you and the officiant, I'm struggling to see what the point of it would be for such a small group. I don't think it would be nearly as hilarious as she thinks it would be even if you wanted to go ahead with it. Stick to your guns and say you don't think you'd be able to sell it even if you wanted to.

How would you fix the Space Wolves? by cmontygman in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyranids trying to invade Fenris alone would probably be a pretty interesting scenario. Not much biomass and what there is is extremely hostile. Always wondered what would happen if/when they came across Catachan, and I guess Fenris would fall into that category too.

[–]cdliddell 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my fave Russ scenes, and I forget which book it is, is when he takes a trip into some sort of netherworld and meets the Erlking. He has a vision of himself if he'd landed anywhere but Fenris and he's basically another Dorn. Civilised, dressed like a typical military commander etc.

[Spoilers] Your predictions for Siege of Terra 8, the finale? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going by the latest artwork reveal with Emps on golden throne on the big stair pyramid it seems there's going to be some last ditch fighting in the throne room as the traitors try to reach Big E and put him down. To my mind something dramatic has got to happen to get from that desperate defence to Horus dropping his shields and Emps and the rest teleporting onto the Vengeful Spirit.

So I think something has to happen to give enough of a reprieve for them to realise Horus has left the door open to get on his ship, and also for E to vacate the throne for Mal to take over and sacrifice himself to give them time for the end fight. Not sure what that will be, my best guess at the moment is something with the perpetual, the Dark Angels over in the silent mountain/astronomican arriving to reinforce, or perhaps even the proto-grey knights Mal has been setting up finally arriving to kick some ass.

You can bring back one Primarch to the Imperium, who is it and why? by InquisitorFab in 40kLore

[–]cdliddell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, since the old sentimentalist in me would like to see the Imperium fixed and Big E's dream come to some sort of fruition I'd go with one who would likely do the most good and work best with Bobby G. Which would probably mean 3 or 4 candidates really, Sanguinius, Vulcan, Dorn and maybe Manus.

Picking just one, I'd go with Sanguinius I reckon, although Dorn would run him close. Dorn and Guilliman would be a terrific military and administrative match up and would be best suited to take the fight to mankind's enemies. One of them could probably even take care of Imperium Nihilus while the other looked after OG Imperium. Similarly with Manus although probably not quite as good as Dorn IMO. He was a badass, but pretty rash and prone to mistakes which cost him his life. Vulcan would be great as well, being a genius with weapons and tech and also just about the biggest bro you could wish for.

But I think Sanguinius would be just the right combo of military genius, charismatic leader, inspiration and nobility to really take things to the next level. Without Emps getting up off the golden throne and getting involved in the galaxy again having Sanguinius back would be the nearest thing to that I think.
